How often do you hear stories about horrible and nasty people. Well I want to share something that happened to me today. It might not be anything major...but to me it is the little things in life that mean the most.
Anyway...a few days ago I did the grocery shopping. On my way to the supermarket I stopped at the newsagency and bought the newspaper and another Invoice Book. I put these into a plastic bag and I went on my way to the supermarket. Once there I hung the bag on the shopping trolley.
My oldest son and I did the groceries and went out to the car and packed the groceries into the car. I then left the trolley in a trolley bay and drove off, forgetting the bag from the newsagency was on the front.
Later that day I remembered my mistake and wrote it off...knowing it wasn't of any importance to anyone and that I would just have to go and get it again...as I had just written out my last invoice and really did need a new invoice book.
Fast forward a few days to today.
I went to the newagencies to get something and as I was leaving one of the staff called out to me and said they had something there for me. It was the plastic bag complete with the newspaper and invoice book. There was no identifying marks to indicate they were mine or anything.
It just goes to show that there are some nice people out there. Someone must have found it and instead of either taking it or ditching it, they took it to the nearest newsagency who remembered what I had bought sometime that day.
So what is your nice story to share with us all. |

once on a train, an old lady in her 60's offered me her seat because she noticed my leg was wrapped in bandage. That was sweet. |

You sure you didn't push her out of the way to get to the seat? :P
Shoot, I can't think of anything nice someone has done for me lately. Oh wait, my birthday was yesterday and my gf was pretty nice to me. :)

I'm afraid to go to sleep after the thread on sleep problems @~@
ANyway. My friend had an old Cherokee that her garage nursed for her for about 5 years. She probably spent enough money there to buy a new car. But when you're poor, it's hard to think about making monthly payments. There came a day when they just couldn't do anymore for the poor thing.
She was broke and couldn't afford to pay for even a used car. So her and her husband and daughter were all sharing the one car that they had. Jill works nights in a different city, daughter works evenings in town and hubby works about 60 miles away and in the evenings.
After about a week, the garage calls and they say they just got a new car to lend people when they have their cars there to be fixed. Since they had the new car, they didn't need the old one they had. They gave it to Jill. |

I have been nice to lot of people in all my life. I help lot of people. But I tell you being nice is not easy.
Most of the people are just selfish, and if you do something for them, they just want to know 'why you are so nice to them'.
And think that you might have any hidden agenda or soemthing.
Being nice is easy , it hurts in the end.
My wife always warns me, but i always tell her that I do not want to change because others are bad. |

I like to think I'm nice and yeah you do get people that apparently don't appreciate it but sometimes you just don't know what's going on in someone's life at a particular moment. Not trying to make excuses but just saying. Btw, if people didn't feel good about themselves or expect others to acknowledge it when they do nice things than nobody or almost nobody would be nice when you get down to it. In other words, being nice is self serving. Does that make sense? It's late so it might not. lol

I think the nicest things I've heard of lately are people handing out gift memberships to less fortunate photographers as well as very nice photography outfits (ie canon rebel and lenses, etc) to those less able to afford them. Truly wonderful in my mind. |

I have only had problems with some people. Usually people are just thankful. And thats enough.

There are few things I can not put in words. But sometimes the experience is just bitter. One in 100 or one in 1000 , it could happen. And it happens. Not all people are alike. |

Yesterday I went to a store to grab a very few items, like more DVD's to backup images with. I headed for the a corner register that many don't think is a checkout counter too because the regular checkouts were just jammed. I was annoyed because the lady in front of me with a gazillion items went for that checkout too but then she waved me ahead because I only had two items. That just makes my day when people let me slip through knowing I will be much quicker than they will be. |

I can think of so many small but meaningful things, but one has always stuck in my mind, partly because it was rather humourous as well.
Years ago I worked in a lottery booth in Eaton Centre. One older gentleman promised me that I'd get 10% if he won on a ticket I'd sold him. What I didn't realise was that he meant on EVERYthing he won!
No, he never hit anything big. But when he'd cash his $1 winner he never failed to give me my 10 cents. And when I'd come back after days off there'd often be a piece of paper for me with a dime taped onto it.
It was such a tiny thing. I'm sure I never made more than three or four dollars from my share. But the fact that he not only remembered his promise but went out of his way to make sure he fulfilled it, even if it was only worth a few pennies, touched me deeply. |

I was out for a walk, and was headed into a laundry-mat to get a drink when a couple of kids on bikes pulled in ahead of me. One was telling the other to 'hurry before someone gets it', and they go in. When I get to the pop vender they are looking and pointing into the candy vendor next to it. As soon as I walk up they leave, and move over to sit at a table, watching me all the while. I get my drink, and then look into the candy vendor -- there is a package of candy that didn't drop when someone selected it. I put a couple of quarters in and make the same selection, and both the one hanging and the next one fall to the bottom.
The kids looked so sad as I started to walk past them, but that didn't last long as I tossed each one of the packages of candy. It's not often I get the chance to 'buy' a couple of smiles that big for just 50 cents.
