Okay, so I am confused. I just joined and submitted my first photo. So far the commments say the pic is really small. I followed the file size of less than 150 kb. What size are most of the submissions?

most people try to keep the longest side to the maximum allowed, which is 640. This way, you're sure that it's pretty big for everyone (whether they have a small or large screen)

you are confusing the file size (disk space) with the actual dimensions of the image. Refracted's comment is referring to 640 pixels as the maximum dimension allowed for either height or width. After you make the image the proper size in your editing program (by changing image size) and you save it as a jpg you will be given the option of what file size/image quality you want it to be . Generally, 150 dpi is going to be around medium quality.
