Hi,

I have a photo that I think has some potential but I can't seem to pull it out of the shot. I think I want to prevent how everything seems to blend together in the shot. I'm also having some trouble with the red jacket that I'm not sure how to fix.

Can someone suggest some things I could try ?

Thanks

I had a go at it using Photoshop

Color corrected w/ Curves
Darkened the area above the horizon w/ Curves and a layer mask.
Punched up the red with Hue/Saturation and a layer mask.
Used Shadow/Highlight to bring out the foreground a bit.

These adjustments were heavy handed. If I wanted to take more time, I would use them more subtly.

Not sure I improved it but only had the small photo to work with. If I had had the original, I would have tried some noise reduction. You can make the jacket any color you want.

I tried (in my own limited way). At least for me there was alot of noise and I have very little ability to remove excess noise. I had tried boosting the saturation and color through selective coloring and hue/saturation adjustment layers.

I would also clone out the blurred bird--it distracts from the image in my mind. You can also use hue/saturation to selectively desaturate the red jacket if you don't like it...or change the color in some way as well.

I tried putting in a larger file but that jacket still has noise in it. Not sure how to get rid of that - it makes the jacket splotchy. The red's alright - I don't want to change the color but the splotchiness is the problem.

Perhaps its easier to use

Should be the same principles

Dr.Confuser: I like what you did - that's what I'm looking for - now I'm off to see if I can replicate what you did :)

My usual over the top attempt.

WOW! Could you maybe list some editing steps? I'm off working on my attempt right now.
