.........to leave work. I sold all of my camera equipment and boxed it up in fear of something happening to it before I could ship it off. So I havent been taking any photos. Just called home to chat with the wife and UPS delivered all the new stuff. I had her open it up and charge the battery for me so when I got home I could play. I have been reading the users manual the last 2 nights and I think I'm ready to start on the dark side. So quick that 30D and lens is calling my name!

Just tell your boss that you're hearing voices calling your name and I'm sure you'll end up in some home somewhere ... : )

Explosive diarrhea is something that they are not apt to want to spend a lot of time discussing.

Find smething brown and wipe it all over the back of your pants. Just tell your boss you need to go home. There won't be any questions ;-)

i like the little voices in your head... Just tell your boss you are hearing voices he or she will ask . what are they saying. You then respond with they are telling me to go postal and kill my boss.

No, that will get you arrested. Better to act confused and say you need to shoot ... pictures ... for postcards ...

Tell him your new baby has just been delivered... With luck, he'll make the wrong assumption and shoo you out.

"I have to leave, and you don't want to know why"

works every time and the best part is, you are not lying!

just go in and say "I quit" and they'll let you leave really quickly on an "extended vacation"

"It's all in how you phrase it" -- Linda Ellerbee tells a great story (paraphrased here) of how the long-time head of NBC's Far East bureau was moving back to the US. He wired(!) headquarters the message "Assume NBC will cover shipping family, furniture and junk" -- which is how he got the network to pay to ship back his 58-foot Chinese sailing vessel ...

Still trying to decide how long I should wait to act really ill, how long does a new battery need to charge anyway! :-)

Matt. Be careful with what you tell the boss. You might end up in an Emergency room waiting to have stool cultures done, or worse...A psychiatric evaluation.
A migraine would work... You suddenly see light sparkles in you field of vision, then, after about 20 minutes, nausea, strong headache, irritated by light and sounds and you need to go home to rest in a dark quiet room.
It's pretty practical since you could have them about twice every month.
Please bear in mind...Not real medical advice!!!

OK well the emergency is over. I snuck out an hour and a half early. The wife had not one, but 2 batteries charged for me. I got home played with all the new toys. And I think I might just like being a Canon owner. This appears to be a very solid camera. Focus is fast, and the noise even up to 1600 is very good. I would post some examples, but they are mostly snapshotish, just getting used to the camera, the flash and the lens. Which BTW zoom backwards of what Olympus does, so I automatically zoom backwards of what I would with the Olympus stuff. I do like the wheel of fortune.:-) I dont like having to search for the buttons, but that will come with time. Thanks for helping get me out of work early.

A) Don't joke about migraines. They are so not fun.
B) mk, you're just too damned funny
C) Matt, your job is to talk me into buying one of those things. What lens did you get?

OK my mom isnt going to like this but this was taken with the 70-200 Sigma

And this is just a quick shot of flowers with the 17-50

Nothing special about either shot. Although personally I like the one of my mom, she doesnt like to have her picture taken though. Anyway so far so good.

I have found projectile vomiting on the boss works well as a way to go home early, and you can easily get the next day off too.

Welcome to the Canon side of things, where the good guys wear white (lenses)!

Pretty sharp action there...bet you are liking that rig.

btw: that wheel of fortune will be your best friend. Did you get the Grip? If you did you should notice how that wheel fits perfectly under the thumb in Portrait position... it don't get any better than that.

Just tell your boss you and your wife are expecting a new "baby" and you must rush home immediately!
