Hi Gang,
Can anyone here recommend a good Powershot camera that has full manual settings and is small enough to fit in one's front pocket? Even if it has as few as 2 or 3 Megapixels, that would be ok by me.
Best,
CK

The PowerShot G6 - best in it's class, I think.
Alternatively, the CyberShot V3. |

The S50 worked well for me... Sharpe pics and the colors were fabulous. It was a 5M, they have an S70 (7MP) flavor out now.
Has a sliding door to covers the front as opposed to to the littles doors that cover the lens on the likes of the elphs and such. Fit my front jeans (or cargo) pocket nicely.
Great camera, wish I had it back... made a deal (involved getting a dSLR), in-laws have the S50 now and aren't giving it up for nothing. |

I'd recomment the Powershot A series. I'm not sure what you mean by front pocket, but the Powershot A700 which was just released is a nice camera. I have the A70 and it's a good little camera. Also, the elph powerhot series is quite nice, which is what awpollard is talking about (I think)

Close but the Powershot S70 and S50 are a different body than any of the others. They are long and skinny, not squarish like the elphs and A series. Fits a blue jean front pocket (not a tight one) almost perfectly with out digging.
ED: Just checked dpreview and there is an S80 8MP version available...

Thanks for the quick and speedy recommendations. The "S" and "A" series looks great, but they still look like they might be a little too big. I need something not just small, but thin as well, that I can literally slide into my jeans pocket ( like one of those Vupoint cameras) but with more pixelpower and manual settings. It's probably best to go into a camera store and look around. Once again, I thank you all.

Fuji's Finepix F30 might fit that bill - slim yet has enough controls
