Thanks to my credit card endowed sister, I can now enter in the challenges and learn, learn, learn!

Tch! And to think we hated each other when we were kids. :-D

Thanks, Fraser. I'm really excited to be a proper participant now. My photos suck, but I'll work hard to make them better.

ROFL! That only works for the blokes, and only when they're wearing gumboots.

"Get in behind!" as the lads of the land say down this way.

Quick question, if anyone is still reading: I'm trying to upload a couple of photos to my portfolio, but I'm unsure of what I'm doing. Is there anywhere that tells me about sizing and what-have-you? I've looked through the FAQs, and maybe I'm blind, but I'm a bit lost. The only one I've uploaded so far looks awfully tiny. :-(

Edit: Nope, forget that - sorry - I have the right size I think - I was just trying to look at it with my lenscap still on. :-/

Try this one //www.dpchallenge.com/tutorial.php?TUTORIAL_ID=26

And, welcome to the insanity. You'll learn new meanings to love and hate, and you'll waste way more time than you ever even knew you had.

maximum image size = 800 x 800 pixels
maximum image file-size = 150kb
please dont get confused between image dimension (image size, in pixels) and file size (in bytes)

UPDATE: mk said there is no file size limit for portfolios. Give it a try.

Thanks, ericwoo!

I used the specs for the challenges in resizing, but got stuck in the update info mode, which kafuzzled me. But that'll teach me to just make one or two more random clicks on random links before jumping into my question assault trou. Oops!

:-D

Thanks, crayon!

I guess the only restrictions to portfolio images is how much space you pay for. I'll try to stick to the challenge specs, though, as it'll be a good habit to get into I guess, and not so hard on people's browsers. :-)

That means 150kb... but frankly, sometimes you will encounter photos that simply "suck" at 150kb or lesser :/

Yeah, a couple of pics I looked at in the Green challenge looked like compression had been a little unkind to them. I don't know how to fix that, though. There must be an art to resizing and compressing to reduce that loss of detail and artifacting, but I don't know the formula yet.
