Here's a new thread for all mediocre members (and commenters) to post random stuff... I'll start if off with a sweet interview with team mediocre starlet, pidge.

1. full name? or closest thing to it if no birth certificate?

I plead the 5th

2. what got you into photography? what would get you out of it?

I've always taken pictures since I was a kid. My mom would let me take pictures
on family vacations and stuff. I haven't looked at them in years, but I'm sure
they are very mediocre
What would I get out of it? I don't know, but currently, I get pretty pictures
(sometimes)

3. if you were to pick a number in between 0 and 1, which would you choose?

Since we have survived the apocolypse, I'd say 2/3. Infinite sixes to freak
everyone out :P

4. do you feel being just average helps you fly below the radar, thus escaping
annoying tax audits?

Yah, that and making pennies for income

5. what, other than photography, are you most OK with doing?

Anything legal (and some things not :P )

6. light grey or dark grey?

dark

7. complete the sequence: mega-awesome, brilliant, great, good, goodish,
________, below average, suck. (hint: the answer is in the question!)

I'm on break for school, so I refuse to answer on principle

8. what is the most OK pic you've taken that was voted suck? (link)

//www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=278408
It's on ok picture, that I wasn't even going to enter. I still like it, even
though others didn't

9. true or false: your highschool average was 65.

False

10. are you OK with this ridiculous interview?

No. You are paying for my therapy sessions after this

11. are you secretly plotting to either A) get better and join a 'better' team,
or B) suck harder and join team suck for WPL?

Well, I'm already on team Suck, but they are not in the WPL. So, no to both!

12. how many calories per day do you consume plotting your next so-so pic?

avergae number of calories burnt by thinking average thoughts, whatever that is

13. how many team suck members does it take to make one mediocre member?

square root of two. Has to be an irrational number!

14. on that note, how many rums does a magnificent 7 member need to drink before
being mediocre?

Uhm, I'd say 2 rums, 2 tequilas, 2 jagermeisters, and 2 goldschlogers, bottle of
red, bottle of white, bottle of bubbles... Actually, that'd probably make them
even better.

15. closing thoughts... nothing too interesting, please.

*yawn* You asked me something?

I have taken a hobby and am trying to make it a job - without losing my enthusiasm, family or mind. Drinking helps, but i never know if anything is in focus.

Other hobbies are now non-existent - having kids pretty much took up all my time and forced a career change.

I try to excersize but so far all I've managed to do is supersize myself. Trying to lug gear on get togethers or during 7 hours of a wedding vividly demonstrates that I am aging and out of shape. So this summer the plan it so bike ride and hike and get more fit. So far all I can say is it has not killed me.

I hope to be worthy of this team and not embarass my self, and be able to enter all the challenges.

I try to learn something new every day, so here is Today's Question:
If fish is brain food, and carrots are good for the eyes, what food aids in creativity?

and if fish is brain food why are fish that eat fish not ultra brainy?

i'm quite new to photography, got a 350d as a tool for astronomy last year and it has been cloudy pretty much since i got it :(
so not much astronomy and plenty of time to play with the camera :)

obsidian --

1. full name? or closest thing to it if no birth certificate?
Carl Andrew James Chilley - please! I have heard all of the possible comments
re my name but - hey! - this is a challenge site, right?

2. what got you into photography? what would get you out of it?
Into: serendipity - bought a camera for my daughter and didn't give to her
Out of: my wife following thought with her threat re my camera and a potential
parking place for it (not really true - I hope)

3. if you were to pick a number in between 0 and 1, which would you choose?
I only deal in imaginary numbers, not reals or integers

4. do you feel being just average helps you fly below the radar, thus escaping
annoying tax audits?
Only this year the tax man told me I didn't have to fill in any more tax
returns - so it must be working! (and this is true)

5. what, other than photography, are you most OK with doing?
Music and silent contemplation in a more relaxed than conscious state - or
sleeping as some would call it

6. light grey or dark grey?
Ah! I am the asymmetric grey man so I cannot possibly express a
preference for something so close to me - or they might come and seek
retribution...

7. complete the sequence: mega-awesome, brilliant, great, good, goodish,
________, below average, suck. (hint: the answer is in the question!)
Hmmm, not so good at these. I think you are after the old English expression
"goodlyish" but I fear this is a very mediocre answer - I will try to do
better

8. what is the most OK pic you've taken that was voted suck? (link)
Well, this would have to be my infamous ribbon-winning "Gothic Mean Time"
entry in the last Duotone challenge.

Inspired by the Gothic muse, realised in a flash of demonic use of Photoshop
Elements and conceived during the last vestiges of my manic depression it was
all - nay more - than I could ever have hoped for in a single image. Sadly
no-one else agreed and the ribbon was brown. Philistines...

9. true or false: your highschool average was 65.
Being educated in England I went to a Grammar School and was never considered
average, so I have no idea what the question means, I am afraid. I do have a
teddy bear called "Fred Bear", though

10. are you OK with this ridiculous interview?
Interview? I thought this was the application form to join the critique
club

11. are you secretly plotting to either A) get better and join a 'better' team,
or B) suck harder and join team suck for WPL?
To define my aspirations in such simple terms is to negate the intensity of
the competitive edge I bring to the critique club team (I used
to be in Marketing). On the other hand, I feel that Team Suck represents the
kind of dizzying heights that will take me many years to reach. I therefore seek
merely to excel in my mediocrity and become more so.

12. how many calories per day do you consume plotting your next so-so pic?
About a tub of Ben & Jerry's worth - on a good day.

13. how many team suck members does it take to make one mediocre member?
Having re-read the question several times to ensure that I really
understood what was written the answer is clearly 42 - the answer to life, the
universe and everything.

14. on that note, how many rums does a magnificent 7 member need to drink before
being mediocre?
Naturally, the answer is 42 but I feel that they will only need to pass near
an open rum bottle to start to blab about their hidden desire to be like the
rest of us. They will need to drink 42 rums to try to forget their sense of
superiority. Or join the Foreign Legion when the only cameras allowed are the
in camera meetings. Or just be honest and change the team name to the
mediocre 7. I really don't know and feel that I may have prejudiced my deeply
hidden desire to be like one of them - truly magnificent. Unless you are part of
the Pentax team...

15. closing thoughts... nothing too interesting, please.
Please accept my apologies for the brevity of my answers.

Moonshine is what atarted NASCAR racing here in the states.

(Moonshine is ilegally distilled liquor (no license, no taxes paid). It's usually grain alcohol. In the early days of the US the gov't had few powers of taxation, but they could tax booze, and they did. Here in western PA there was a Whiskey Rebellion over it. So the distillers moved farther west into the mountains, and somewhat south into the mountains. Some went legit - most bourbon and whisky in the US is made in Kentucky. Some stayed illegeal and eventually used modified cars that looked 'stock' to move the illegeal booze on back roads and avoid the 'revenuers' (govt agents that tried to collect the tax) and on sundays they'd reace eachother to see who had the fastest car - and you got NASCAR.
