As many of you know, I took part in a national physical transformation challenge earlier this year dedicated to the memory of my friend Julie.
That's 12 weeks of hard work.
Now I've been helping some folks on the site work on similar transformations. Tonight several folks came to me with the idea of a DPC Transformation Challenge. I'm interested to see if anyone else would like to go for it?
Worst case, you are in better shape than you were at the beginning of 8-12 weeks.
Deal is we come up with a prize (photo related obviously :)), and the people who agree to participate pay an entry fee. The judging would be done by a non DPC panel consisting of folks from the TorchSpirit website where I spend a lot of my fitness time. You have to do before and after shots, and have to submit a written statement at the end of the challenge.
My part of the deal is helping people with any questions or concerns, and making sure everyone makes it to the end of the challenge. Also, half the entry fee will go towards the prize, the other half goes to the TorchSpirit Foundation. This foundation is dedicated to Julie's memory, and funds go towards helping people who are facing life threatening lung disease.
So if there's any interest, let me know. I've got 4 people all ready interested. I just want to share the love! |

I'm definately interested. I've been working on my fitness, but I could really use a shot in the arm. This would help. Alot!

At the end of the challenge yes they would. I'm not going to force anyone to post befores without afters. :) That's one of the fun parts of the whole process! |

Boy do I need this, I've kinda started on a fitness thing already, but extra motivation would definitely help. Depending on when things kick off (I'm on vacation next week) I'm definitely interested. |

I'm gonna join a gym in the summer break. I don't need to lose weight but I got a bit of a podgy belly. I just wanna be a little more toned and greater stamina for running/cycling etc.

Yes. I've been looking for a way to get back on track. I actually lost 40 lbs. last year, and have since regained 20, which is frustrating.

So I guess we'd all pick our own workout and schedule and just keep kicking each other online to stick to it?
If the entry fee is reasonable enough, I'm in... provided the hubby has a job by then so we can afford it... :)

I'm totally willing to help folks put together programs if they need help.
I'm personally a big advocate of the Body for Lifeprogram because I know it works. But I also am a bigger believer in helping people find something that works.
Right now I'm just gauging interest. Looks like a decent amount so far. I'll start working up some details. :) |

I'm with Konador. Bit o' podgy belly I'd like to be rid of, in need of some general toning, but don't really need to lose much weight - maybe a few lbs. But I'd be interested in knowing the details of this, I might be game.

I would definatley be interested, I'm in good shape right now, but my body type (and being short) means that going from Buxom to Chubby isnt a far stretch. LOL I'd love to tone up a bit and push myself farther, I just lack the motivation to do so. :)

What if I've already lost 50 pounds? We should have started this about 6 months ago! I only have 20 more to go to reach my goal... ;-) Of course, getting into better shape is always a good thing.
EDIT: Yes, I would be interested. Those last 20 pounds are NOT going to be easy!

3 1/2 years ago I weighed 225 pounds. 2 years ago I weighed 173 pounds. I now weigh 212. I want to get close to where I was (180 - 185 would be ideal), and this is the kick I need. I'm in, if the entry fee isn't outrageous. |

Entry fee is gonna be like 10-15 bucks. Just enough so you have to be serious, but nothing insane. I'm not exactally rich here. :) |

Irony:
In 1972, I weighed 165lbs (was my wrestling weight class)
Today (as of my last check-up) I weigh 172lbs.
Blood pressure 110/60, Cholesterol at 165 total (LDL@120, HDL@45)
I get sick maybe once every 5 years or so, and then only lasts a day or so.
Yet I have had 3 heart attacks now, 1 minor(5½ yrs ago), 2 majors(1 month ago)
Go figure.
Life's a crapshoot - just find a way to be happy and enjoy it. |
