Saw in another post someone saying that the cheap UV filters will degrade your image.

What would be classed as cheap? I see the prices range from $5 to over $100.

Also, can anyone show me comparision shots of a cheap one against an expensive one?

I bought cheap ones just as lens protection for all my lenses. No, I'm not in the habit of dropping my camera, but thought better to be safe than sorry. Was that a mistake?

Look for a GLASS filter that is multi-coated. You can't tell the difference between a cheap filter and a good one when looking at web resolution images. You can't tell at all in some cases otherwise...

Definitely spend a little more for a multi-coated filter. If you end up paying $30 as opposed to $5, it's still significantly less than a new lens, and you wont have nearly as much of a problem with lens flare.

remember, a lens is only as good as the glass you put infront of it!

So, are Tiffen ones any good? I got mine for about $5 a pop.
