Originally posted by karmabreeze: The problem with Ruin Windows is that the sky was blown out in half the photo. Don't cha just hate when that happens? I took about 10 photos for this challenge and most had the blown out sky...Must have been the week for it...but nice photos anyway!!

IMHO, you should have zoomed in on one of those windows with the rolled glass.

This one might have benefited from a light pass with NeatImage.
I left comments on a few of your photos. Your portfolio has a lot of really good stuff!

Here are mine, all shot in downtown Sacramento:
Oh yeah, just wanted to say that the ONLY editing to the first two shots was to resize -- no adjustments, no sharpening, etc.

Once again I think I chose the wrong picture:
Entered:
Outtake I (simple, but probably would have scored better):
Outtake II (entered elsewhere):
And the one I should have entered with its original version. I was worried about the amount of editing I had to do on it ... and the editing took much longer than I thought it would (and I know that I need some of the street ... but there is a big construction site right next to and in front of this building):

The picture I entered was taken with a fisheye ... the architecture is already pretty wild with a inward curving wall, but the fisheye just blows it out of the water:
These aren't outtakes (having been shot 6 months prior) but I think they help show the architecture a little more:

I took lots of pictures of lots of different buildings. I'll put a couple here and throw a few more in my portfolio for those interested. All are from the San Antonio, Texas area.
My entry:
And a bit bigger view of that side of the building, taken later in the day:

Here is one. The others I haven't adjusted to fit the portfolio yet, and they were not edited. More to come later on. I did submit this one intitially, but thought that the majority of voters would not consider it architecture, and you also can't tell necessarily that it is a bridge.
Thread City Bridge - Willimantic, CT.
Same building as my entry, just the other side of it.
One of the churches I took.

Regretably, I was too late to enter this challenge. But, if I could have, would have entered one of these. Taken June 3, 2006 in Helena Montana.

Originally posted by DrAchoo: You know, I didn't realize the outtake thread policy had become official. Sorry. It does seem that outtake threads have gone somewhat by the wayside since we post them after the challenge is over.
I'm still quite sure I haven't altered anybody's mind here, but I'll wait until the challenge is officially over next time. |
Your thread reminded me that I hadn't voted. So I voted. Therefore, your outtake thread affected the scoring of an ongoing challenge. You will be drawn and quartered at noon.

I wanted to credit Magnus one more time!
As I keep saying he was the one to decide to go to the Stata Center and took a picture VERY similar to mine that got (yay) 4th place.
Here it is!
