Today, 06/03/2006, I got in my car and drove close to 300 miles to purchase a Nikon D200 camera. I have tried places online, but noone actually had one in stock.
I checked all the local stores and couldn't find one. The Best Buy in Harrisburg, PA actually had two of them.
I got it and I only put it down to come here to read what the current challenges are. I hope to start submitting some of my shots.

Just so you know the Calumet in my town has quite a few of them for sale. If you want one just let me know and I can work the deal for you.

Good pickup. I played with one the other day and was shocked at how well built it is.
I would definitely look to get a better lens, though. |

Best Buy doesn't have the greatest selection of lenes. I had to drive over to a Ritz camera to buy one. I wouldn't have been able to get through the day w/o taking a picture so that's the lens I picked. They tried to sell me a Quantarray lens and I flat out refused.
I want (not in any particular order):
Nikkor Macro 60mm f/2.8D
Sigma 10mm-20mm f4-5.6 Super Wide Zoom
Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6D ED
I also need some filters, a new tripod, a nice flash (SB-800).
My wife is gunna kill me.

I had the 70-300mm and liked it but sold it on Ebay and got the 18-200mm VR and that baby is sweet. It has been on my D70 for a month and hasn't come off yet!
I'd hold off on the 70-300 and save up for the 18-200 VR.
I also have that SB 800 and couldn't live w/o it!

WTG on the D200
Your lens choice looks good but you're missing a good deal of middle ground between 20mm and 70mm... I'm not sure if that makes sense? |

I'd prolly switch the 70-300 for the 70-200 2.8 (or the 80-200 2.8) and the 60mm 2.8 macro for a 105mm 2.8 macro and 50mm 1.8. I want the 10-20 too! But that's just me :P

Those are good choices. I am going to start planning a bank heist so I can buy them. I am not set on anything.

I figure that's what I have now. 28mm to 80mm.
ps. I bought my wife a D50 today so now I also have access to her 18mm - 55mm.
pss. My wife didn't go ballistic on me at all. I got her a camera today and we are planning some photo hunt dates. It might just work out great.
