The more I read that challenge description, the more I think it royally sucks.

I might just break into an abandoned house later today >.>
Bound to be an empty room there? lol

Can we make a petition to re-make the challenge description? It's been done before you know.

How about at least changing it to "... one thing, group of things, or one person into a mostly empty room."

But seriously - how big might that item be? Can you for instance empty a room and bring in a sectional coach for the shoot? Technically that should not be DNMC

So are you shooting pictures of the couch? Because you can't shoot someone sitting on it. That would be two "things". You can't bring a chair and a model, as far as I read it. You need one or the other.

Thus why the description sucks.

And models aren't things, they're people, and people can't be considered things, so you're DNMC. I can just see the comments scrolling.

And the model has to be nude, because clothing is technically things.

This is the first bit of sense I've heard all day...

This challenge has inspired me not to shoot anything. :P

To be serious for a moment since this challenge is so exclusive to only people with empty rooms (I know of nobody that has one including myself) we might as well have that age restricted challenge, Icelandic only challenge, etc.

The whole challenge sucks! Where am I supposed to find an empty room? In a doll house?

(Your challenge this week. Take one thing and your camera into an empty room and photograph it.) so I can't shot this from outside the room threw a window or door

I read the whole thread, and I just dont know why people fight way before the contest even starts.

I am going to take a shot of my cat.

05/29/2006 09:33:14 PM · #62
then do not go in the room, cat, you + 2 things
05/29/2006 09:34:01 PM · #63
we should all shoot our lens caps

I'm glad I'm not a member and don't have to worry about this one. ;-)

I'm glad I'm learning to fight my "enter, just to enter" urges

Empty room??? What is that?? I haven't seen one of those in forever! I guess I won't be in this one :)

You know, sometimes when I take time to wander around the site I think that people are working harder at finding reasons NOT to enter challenges than they are at getting creative and finding/creating that shot...

LOL...I'd have to work harder in one week to empty a room in THIS house than in the past 20 or so years I've been employed COMBINED. Trust me...this time my quest for a little blue bundle of pixels is just not worth it. ;)

With the amount of toys and stuff all over our house, I'd have to rent a backhoe just to find the floor.

Oh, it ain't gonna happen in THIS house either, with 5 adults sharing half a duplex, but that doesn't mean I'm going to give up YET. There's gotta be SOMEwhere empty! (btw, I hate the Beatles too, but I'm working on an idea for that one.)

Why would a wide lens be helpful to this challenge? This isn't argumentative at all - I just don't understand very much about wide lenses and would like to learn a bit more.

A wider lens would make it a bit easier to show the room and that it is indeed empty :-) Also, wide lenses are just easier to work with in close quarters.

Ah, okay. That makes sense. I would totally not be using that though, as I would be doing the "find an empty corner" method.

(Also sorry for intruding on this thread! I need a blue shirt! Hehe.)

I wish I had a real wide angle lens for Architecture let alone for silly interior challenges like this one. :P

You do need a blue shirt, but we don't mind intrusions ;-)
