OK, I mean "tortoise".

I entered this in the "Textures IV" challenge.
I thought I could give it a "grungy" effect and make it interesting. Clearly, I was wrong. I've gotten a lot of comments regarding my images looking overexposed, and remarks about things that don't show up on my monitor. My monitor does not respond to calibration and the dark grays all appear black. I think this is hurting the way they show up on other monitors.

With this in mind, I re-edited the shot. What I'm wondering is
1)Is this any better?
and
2)Does the exposure or processing look wrong on properly calibrated monitors?

Feedback appreciated.

Thanks alfresco:) The lack of response pretty much answers my question, though.

I think I prefer your first edit, but I can't quite put my finger on why...

I am not sure that my monitor is calibrated but I like the both. the newer one does stand out a bit more though.

I prefer the first one.

Thanks y'all. One thing I'm wondering is...on the second one, can you make out definition in the shadows? They look almost black on my monitor.

I think you have more midrange on the re-edit, but I just realized I never havent recalibrated since I got this moniter. So I'm no help.

re-edit blacks look mighty black to me but I've not calibrated my monitor properly (my next purchase)

First one. The redo is too saturated and went too black in the leafy area.
