Very nice focus, calm colors, tiny spider. I see white spots where the screen crosses--adds a bit more interest. Still lacks the wow-factor, that's all I can think of.

There's a name for those "white dots" that appear at the interstices, but I can't think of it right now. It's a really nice shot.

the white dots are actually NOT a part of the photograph but a optical illusion caused by your eye

Very nice shot. Unusual. Like the light picked up on the spider legs.

Googled to find out more on grid illusions and got thisGrid Illusion (from Answers.com)

Nice lighting, enjoyed the shot. Looked almost like it is on a fly swatter.

Of course not, as soon as you go to look at one is vanishes! Optical illusions challenge would be interesting!

random bump...

I think it's very cool.

Since I love spiders, macro and simplicity, it would appeal to me more if it were cropped to about 8 x 6 squares.

keep in mind - it's sitting on window screen. it's pretty macro with out cropping it down.

thanks.

Gotta love a one-a-year series on something so esoteric :-)

Great shot. It is far better than the original.

I like the second shot better.

I must say that when I read the comments on the original I thought I had missed the announcement of a silhouette challenge. I glanced at the date and saw 5/10 --not so long ago. Took me a moment to really look at the date and notice it was 2005! (Bear's comment made much more sense then!)

Nice series. Can't wait to see next years! :)

Reminds me of this one of mine. Minus the cool optical illusion and the actual spider of course!

thanks ! i am more fond of the first. but the second is a larger spider. framed slighly closer. neither are cropped more than to straighten out the screen mesh. maybe 5%...

natural mystic - to quote a famous person ;}

i hate spiders. imagine a spider the size of your hand. that's what i grew up with. in connecticut to boot...

I'm not wild about spiders - but yet I find macros of them to be so neat to look at! As long as the spider's don't crawl on me I guess they're not so bad.
