Hey all-

So in the middle of a shoot for a website I work with (www.beautypluspower.com - you can see some of my work in the April editorial) my digital Rebel died. It seems like the problem is the mirror, which now refuses to move. (And, unfortunately, I don't have a proper back-up.) What makes this even worse is that Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday I'm the official photographer for a major event my company is having. It's an incredible break for me and I can't show up with my old point and shoot and tell the celebs and board members attending that they should say "cheese."

I'm desperate. Is there anyone on here from the NYC area who'd be willing to loan me their dSLR until Wednesday? Or let me rent it from them for not a huge amount of money? (So many factors conspired to make this hugely inconvienant, including a payroll problem that meant I didn't get my paycheck this past week, or I would just go over to B&H and rent something.)

Brand doesn't matter, make doesn't matter (although I'm familiar with Canon, I'd do a crash course in Nikon if I needed to.)

My camera is a three year old EOS-300 with 18K exposures, so it's probably normal for it to have problems like this. I just wish it would have decided to go out NEXT weekend. Well, I suppose the next few paychecks should be put into a backup, so I won't have to deal with this kind of disaster again.

Even if you just know someone who might be able to help me out, please email me at bethhommel@gmail.com . In gratitude, I will likely be able to get you into one of the nights of our film festival (Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday), which is a really swanky, fun affair with an open bar.

Beth

You might try contacting Pawdrix, who may know of a place locally where you can rent a camera.
