Just my luck! I just sprayed the house and all of the Macros ran across the street to the neighbors in nice even rank and file. I've been inactive for a couple of weeks but will be back this time.

I don't think I'm looking forward to voting on symmetry though: can imagine an awful lot of similar images.

I also think Symmetry will be difficult to vote on.

Here is a pretty extensive description of symmetrry and balance. Might give some ideas even though it is not specifically directed at photos.

I don't think I'll be able to get my paid membership in fast enough to do the macro (which bites because I love macro shots). I'm planning to let the symmetry idea roll around a bit before I decide for sure what I want. I saw another thread on here about symmetry and I know I want to stay away from flowers and whatnot because I think they'll be done to death.

I'm actually hoping to find something on post to shoot...probably end up too esoteric to get good ratings, but as long as the shot is good, it's worth it. Ideas are forming based just on what I see passing through post each day...hmmmmmmm

Good luck everyone and happy snapping LOL.

I've been lucky finding symmetry in nature shots through the years, e.g. ferns, compositae (daisy-type flowers). There are many types of symmetry as my geometry teacher used to say about a hundred years ago. You can have symmetry along a line (like ink blots), around a center ( like many species of flowers, mushroom caps from underneath, pine cones.) Lots of room for fun here in the field. Or how about the city with all its symetrical forms of architecture? Let the genie out of the bottle. You folks always work such great magic with these assignments: it's great to see the world through another's eyes!

Does anyone have any photo examples of symmetry?

Examples of what I would consider for symmetry:

Blue Velvet
Mostly Reflections (at least the bottom left part of it)
Feathered
