| The only lenses I have are the kit lens and the 50mm 1.8 I'm dying to get a telephoto so I can get some of the local birds and such. But I have awhile to wait until I get one so off I go to one of the local lakes anyways with my puny 50mm in hopes of something I can get close enough to to get a good shot. That is all. Have fun and you can't ask for a better lens to be "stuck" with.

I agree with the cheese man. I just discovered my old Minolta XG-M SLR with its 50mm f1.7 lens and - boy - did I have fun with that before I got my Tamron 35 - 200mm zoom. What I would give for f/1.7 these days :-)
Go enjoy and get the feel of the camera before making life more complex with other new toys. |

Your images prove a point I've tried to make with new photographers many times. We always think we need some huge impressive lens to take nice shots -- but the lens doesn't make the shot, the photographer does. Here is a fine example of ~$75 well spent. Nice job!

Close. Lake Ramona. I went up to Lake Poway and hiked up to it. Pretty good hike. 6 miles round trip. |

I KNEW I recognized that lake! We used to hike in and get stoned there, back in the 60's :-) Those are some nice shots you're getting!
