So, in looking at my portfolio, I'm happy to see that my Top 6 now has some shots other than landscape. Of course I luckily see people's Top 10, but I think most people have 6 across for people's profiles.
Anyway, I was wondering if people can identify their "go to" move. It seems that mine is blurred water. 40% of my Top 10 images use it. 3 of my 6 ribbons use it.
What is your crutch? Do you realize you have one? |

I lost my crutch. I think that's my problem :(

Yeah, okay I'll admit it, flowers are my "crutch". Bows head and crawl back in hole. Oh and color, lots of color.

Someone stole my crutch and beat me down with it. Now they use it to score 7s while I'm laying in the dirt. Therefore I continue to try to learn how to walk on my own.

Impressive. Looking at your Top 10 that is quite obvious... |

Sand Dunes National Park - most of my top scoring pictures were taken there! |

Looking at mine, I think I need to find a crutch. Anyone not using thiers anymore?

Water, and anything found at Bronte Creek, the provincial park near my house. |

Ummm need I say it?
4 of my 6 ribbons use my "trademark" crutch of which has been somewhat offically been referred to as a verb these days. Just look at Kiwiness' comment on my Rhythm shot.
However, 50% of my top 10 images are landscapes. Colorful landscapes that border the surreal ;)
Being an architect, it's uncanny that I only have 1 image in my top 10 that has to do with architecture at all.
Go figure. |

I don't have a crutch here yet... haven't been here long enough to find one certain thing I can shoehorn into the variety of challenges ;)
But I find I tend to shoot lots of closeups... architectural details. I'm hopeless with people and still lifes - anything I have to pose in some way. Sigh... so what are the categories this week? Portrait and still life... go figger! |

I've never quite considered this question...(BTW, I display the top 4 - sounds like another poll. he-he).
4 of top 6 are "set-up" shots.
4 of top 6 are taken outdoors.
2 of top 6 are studio shots.
2 of top 6 are sex humor related.
No common denominator or "crutch" for me. :( |

Easy... originality. If I go out aimlessly looking for shots I'm doomed, but I've had pretty good success with building or planning scenes. Beyond that, I think my subjects and techniques are fairly diverse. |

I tend to go for bright, clean shots. Anytime I veer too far away from that method, my scores suffer.

I haven't scored well enough on anything to really say I rely on anything specific for my best scores, but my portfolio is definitely heavy on wildflowers and other almost-landscape-but-not-quite scenic types, and my only 6+ shot is a landscape as well.
Edit: And macro. Particularly nature macro, since the Coolpix macro filter is really pretty awesome.

My crutch is not entering. That's when I feel the best about my scores. :) |

I'm in my post-lunch stupor and so not in the mood for smiting. *Sigh* |

My crutches of 1)old and 2)spooky do not necessarily garner me great scores, but they make me feel better. Well.. until I see my scores. |
