As some of you know I am leaving for Europe this summer on a backpacking expedition. I plan on keeping a journal the entire time and taking a whole lot of pictures. Then when I get back I'm turning the journals/stories/pictures...and everything else into a book of inspiration for young travelers.. I think that kids in America are being rushed into adulthood and many will never get the chance to see the world. I just want to create something that will show them that there is a whole world out there to explore...and inspire them to go out and see it.

So I've decided that I may hold a fundraiser for my trip. Basically...I'm trying to raise money to pay for day-to-day living in Europe, the more I can raise...the longer I can stay. I'm currently working overtime and Ebaying like crazy to earn as much money as possible in the next month and a half.

I'm going to pick about 10 of my pictures and do a limited run of 10 prints for each. They will be high quality 8x10 prints from smugmug and cost somewhere around $40 each.

Right now I'm just checking to see how many people would be interested in supporting me and if anyone has any suggestions on what photos I should do prints of.

I really really do appreciate this website. You guys have taught me pretty much everything I know about photography, yet I can only hope to be half as good as most of you :P

Thanks a whole lot in advance guys!

Caleb

*edit* Here are the pictures I am printing:

I will be doing 10 prints of each photo...they will be individually numbered and signed on the backs.

The price will be $40 each...which included shipping.

If you are interested in ordering a print please pm me or post here...thanks a bunch bunch you guys!

*Edit #2* My paypal account is; zeroboxes@yahoo.com Other forms of payment will work fine though too...just let me know, thanks!

Do it Caleb. I'm sure there are plenty of people on this site that would be happy to buy them. I also think you could get away with charging more than $30 a print. I would say maybe even $40 or $50. I would like one of your Ring of Fire however if that is one of the options.

Best wishes and good luck.

Yeah...I figured I would do Ring photo deff...a lot of people seem to like that one:P

I was thinking about prices, I'm not set on $30...I may end up charging a little more if people are feeling really supportive, lol....just depends.

The thing is...I'm only going to do 10 prints of each, and then there will never be any more prints of these photos again. So if I get famous someday...maybe ou can sell them for like a million dollars each, haha....riggghhht.

Thanks for the support man!

Yeah, I was thinking about it some more and I also think you should do your Soul of a Flower one. Another thing you might want to do is pick your ten photos, start another forum and just lay it out and say these ten are going on sale and the prints are limited addition. Just post the thumbnails and tell everyone to have a look. I think if people had something more concrete to work with they would be very supportive. Just my two cents.

Yeah...I think I'll do that. I'll do some looking tonight and pick the 10 I want to do prints of and then make a new thread later on.

Thanks!

What a great idea, I know I would have loved a book like this when I was 17/18. Good luck with everything, I am sure you will recieve much support.

We're going travelling indefinitely around the world at the end of the year, so I understand your spirit completely!
If you're around Yorkshire in the UK this summer, you're welcome to crash at ours... I'd be happy to show you around.
Take care,
Bob

We may be in the UK...I'm still not sure exactly what route we are taking yet, lol...we may just meander about for awhile. I will deff drop you a line if I'm in the area though.

Thanks! I just want to do something to encourage teenagers.... When I grtaduated from High School I really wanted to take a gap year and go traveling....but there is so much pressure to go to college and get a job and settle down...I just felt like that's what I should do. I regret not taking a gap year, I really don't think college is right for me right now and I feel like I wasted the last year or so. I just don't want this to happen to other kids as well...

Thanks for the supports guys!

Hi there.
Will you be going just to the mainland or some other places as well?

Caleb; I was just about to ask if you had figured out any plans...I guess you answered that.

Bobster; Are you going to swing through Malta by chance? I can't offer accomodation at this point, (I may have a flat next winter, which will be a different story), but I'm more than happy to play tour guide.

Good idea ... i hope you get takers. Personally, I hesitate in buying replacement lens caps so I probably won't be buying prints. My philosophy is that if the price is a little lower you might get more takers. Not really sure.

Having said that - definitely sell "Cloaked by Darkness" if you have a hi-res version. That's a timeless image.
