Rikki, thanks for comments, appreciate it! in the first two, I actually went for a "softer" look, especially in the b/w version, I wanted it to have a touch of retro feel. Maybe it would be better in sepia..

yeah i would give that a try. softer looks tend to not go very well i think unless it's something like a glamour blur where the softness is real evident. |

hi Paul, thanks for the comment. I amplified the contrast the b/w version, however I am still not convinced that this actually improves things
Here is one more from the series (also in glasses, sorry)

Hi Lev
as for me I like that minimalistic approach of your photos. The lighting is very reduced and may be even that little contrast does so much in the photos for me.
I prefer the second one of Irina with the glasses to the first one. The first one does look a bit mafioso to me :)
Looking forward to meeting you guys in July.
cheers

Nasti,
thanks! I also prefer the second one with glasses, and as I said before, I think soft light works better for the firs (sitting)photo, but it's a matter of taste, I guess. Speaking of the first "glasses" photo, well, the "mafioso" look was not accidental: I was thinking about a DPC poster and trying out things. Believe it or not, I even had Irina hold a big kitchen knife for me, but it did not look convincing enough (she mastered other ways to get me :)). Anyway, I abandoned the mafia theme for the DPC poster challenge and plan a completely differnet shot.
And no, unfortunately, I'll be coming to July by myself only. -- Lev
