Has anybody else noticed that you consistently score much higher at a certain part of the day regardless of the challenge? The last three challenges I've been monitoring this and it seems I score on average about 1.5 more points from voters at night/overnight than the voters in the daytime. It's almost like clock work. I've been wondering why that is. Maybe if I ever sold my stuff I'll look for buyers overseas or something!

My pattern seems to be score high the first night, plummet drastically by the next morning and then slowly work my way back up by the end of the week.

Maybe there are more people in Canada/America on this site than in Europe or Asia and so it just seems like they are the worse scores because there are more votes? Have you looked at an average based on votes or just that your overall score goes up/down overnight/day?

Else it could just be that Americans have bad taste :P (I'm joking for humor sake, dont stone me alive, please!)

This is the trend I often see.

I get that too. After 20 votes in one challenge I was over an 8 and then the next morning it was at 5.7 with the next 25 votes. Perhaps the overnight people are just too high to vote appropriately? :P

Oh and btw, of course people do change their votes so you can't really know what one group ultimately votes however in the early going when there is less shifting of votes I've noticed this pattern.

Quite possible but when I've tracked this I compare the same number of votes between the day crowd and the night. In the early going at least and given the same number of voters the night crowd just scores higher at least for me. Of course they could be dirty bastards and change their votes later in the week!

It's all due to the effects of THE EVIL LEAGUE OF SLIPPY. We all coordinate our votes up, then move them down, then creep them back up again.

Then we drink Cool-Aide.

I think high votes to start with are because it's people on DPC who are waiting for the rollover and voting first and they are the people with "taste" and know what a good photo is.
Maybe?

I also find that I never vary much from what my initial vote is on the first morning after the rollover.

My scores drop in the night...and I blame England.

that's because Wayne Rooney has broken his foot and may miss the World Cup.
Everyone is pissed off about that.
I am.
And I'm not even living there!

That's an interesting theory... could quite possibly be a factor.

I think people who stay up for the rollover (rather than live in another time zone) stay up because they are excited abouttheir entry. They may then vote down the competition, or get angry at their own score and then vote sadistically. I find the first 4 votes are often high...then the 1's start coming..the next day it goes up and the low scores stop coming. Happens everytime...IMHO

Or here's a thought - maybe more of the night voters are drinking, as opposed to the day voters ;-) After a few rounds, everything looks better.

Well I have obviously drunk too much as I misread Yanko's post. :)

Yeah me too. I hate it cuz I got to bed with a warm and fuzzy 6.7 and wake up with a harsh and cold 5.7 eh go figure!

On the emotion side. I wait and come to grips with my image. You know I go through the 7 stages of grief. Once I have accepted my score I will vote. I want to be as objective as possible in my subjectivity. Using only the emotion that the image I am looking at provides.

:-P
