Jenesis, thanks for the informative post re: eye focus. I've been doing the lots-of-tries thing myself. I noticed the other day, doing a shot in my room, that looking through one of my lenses (at least) I can see the center focus area on the mirror if I get in just the right position. It would seem like that would mean, assuming I was using that focus area, that my eyes were in focus. But I could be wrong, and I haven't had time to experiment much with it yet.

I would like to try a new type of challenge as well. Shoot from the hip sounds interesting except that I live in a lovely place but not one with much that's interesting as far as people photography. Still, it would be worth trying. I also like the idea (perhaps for a future group) of a list of 30 topics/concepts for 30 days, and each day you pick one from the list, basically like a 24-hour challenge every day but you can plan ahead a bit. Also, the 24-day/24-hour challenge that... shoot, I'm so sorry, I forgot who it was who brought it up earlier -- sounds nice. But the consensus seems to be for shoot from the hip first and that sounds fine to me.

And with that, I forgot to post here earlier when I put up my day 28. It's there. :)

day 18 i think. wait...19? I dunno. I could check, but i'm not going to. it's possible i may just have 2 day 18s and no day 19. kind of like the thirteenth floor in hotels. what happens to all those rooms that were meant to be on that floor, anyway?

so yeah. there's that.

troy - i take you're a rugby player?

the shoot from the hip would be a challenge here too, but it'd be great to try. however, a great many would be of the child, as we're also rural...

but it's the style i used to use exclusivley, when i was young and lived in cities, with no child...

What exactly does "shoot from the hip" mean? Is this to be taken literally? Sounds interesting.

I have found this exercise beneficial, and others have discussed the possibility of what next. My natural progression would be to turn the camera on others and change this from selfportrait for 30 days to a portrait of others both formal and candids. Anyone else up for 30 days of shots of other humans for 30 days?
