Wow! My two current entries have 4 times as many comments as I usually get (actually I got 0 on the last challenge, so WAY more than that one). I think I like this new speed challenge idea Ü

I have 31 comments on my window framed entry, but only 2 on my negative entry. Are commenters concetrating on window framed?

I have more than ususal as well but this is also my best scoring entry yet so I don't know which it is.

Not a stranger to high comment entries, actually, I think my current entry isn't getting many more comments than it would have gotten w/o the 48-hour challenge.

I think there are only a few multi-ribboners that have a large deficit they are trying to over-come. Others are so far behind they aren't even attempting to catch up.

Respectfully disagree. Both of my entries are sitting mid to below mid level on scoring (5ish), and both have gotten substantially more comments than they would have under normal (non 48-hr speed challenge) conditions. Taking a peek at the profiles of the commenters shows quite a few playing a bit of "catch-up". ;^)

I'm sure some are playing catch-up, as I too noticed a dramatic increase in the number of comments on my two very middle-of-the-road scoring entries in Window Framed & Negative Image. (Many more comments on Window Framed for some reason.) And they all started when the speed challenge was announced. I went from 1 & 0 comments to 9 & 4 comments respectively. I like it too! :-)

I have noticed this too. My Window entry is NOT my best-scoring pic and has more comments than any other, even the two that got top-10 results... (God knows that must have been pure luck).
General comment quality is also better than usual... or at least in my case.

Maybe the special 48h challenge has something to do with this, maybe not.

My guess is, this challenge brought the issue of commenting forward in a much-needed way. Kudos for whoever thought of it!

My Negative image has only gotten 4 new comments since the speed challenge began, 2 are from non members, so they can't enter the speed challenge anyway, 1 is from someone who already has a lot more comments made than received and one is from a "bag-head", so I can't tell about his/her comments made/received.

i usually have a bag over my head... my friends prefer it that way. lol.

That was not luck, those are really fine shots.

I have not really noticed a big difference, I only have one comment on my negative image, and thats fine. Thats a tough contest to vote-comment on.
I tried, and gave up. I voted on Complementary Colors.

I was in a huge deficit and decided to take a shot at commenting. I did 100% of the framed, but when I looked at the negative shots, I gave up. They collectively are too hard or unusual for me to make consructive observations.

Gee thanks. * Blushes *

I also coulnd't bring myself to vote for negative, and voted on complementary colours instead. Tried to comment on the first 30~40 entries voted, and THAT was hard enough. Some images are just difficult to comment on...

Anyway, I will try to comment on the first 30~40 of each challenge I vote in, I think it's a good method of forcing myself to vote.

For me I know, I have been down in this department for a long time now.
Even before this challenge came about. Thats why I joined the Critique Club, so I could study photos more. I have been trying to go through the Window Frame challenge and comment as I go. I have done at least 25 today and they have not been really small comments.

Since I'm off work for awihle, I have plenty of time on my hands.
