I couldn't eneter the 48 hour challenge beacause...well, I've gotten more comments than i have given. I am proud to announce that I now have my one-handed keyboard and have commented on 127 photos since last nite. The reason I haven't been doing so is two fold.

Firstly,I am a newbie, still learning my cameras and Photoshop as well. Just got PS CS2, and for a 47 year old "blonde" with adult "A.D.D.", it's difficult maintaining focus in a 500 page manual. I have submitted pics that I thought were great, only to rec'v comments to let me know that they weren't and what I did wrong. At first, it hit me in the gut and I wanted to just quit. But, I look at my first challenge...Broken...and look at what I am posting now, and I would have never come this far without those comments. YES, I still have an awful lot to learn and have not mastered any of it yet, but my determination stays driven with what I rec'v from here.

I haven't felt that I was "qualified" to comment on such great artistry, but have since learned thru all the forums that...we all have our own opinions, and different likes, and different eyes for colors..darkness...lightness...crops.., and that's OK, because that is who WE are as individuals.

Secondly, I lost all the fingers on my left hand a few years ago due to an aortic blood clot that the doctors did not catch. i have permanent nerve damage half-way up my arm and constantly feel like my arm is underneath a car tire. SO...I have only been able to type with one hand, which is very time consuming. It gets very frustrating not typing quick enough to play the games and or respond to a forum question before someone beats you to it. I have typed..."tooo slow" so many times that I lost count.

Anyway, thanks to all that have commented on my work, and for all the help I have recv'd and WILL rec'v from the awesome "FAMILY" here at DPC. I am on a roll now, and only hope that thru my critiques that people see them only as my own opinion, just as I respect others for theirs!

DPC Rocks!!!! And on the upside....I only have to pay HALF PRICE to get my nails done now!!! LMAO at myself!!!

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

Good to hear that you are in the challenge. Remember, even with one hand, you can go to my portfolio and comment on any of my pictures. You can use as many words as you like but I grant you permission to just use the word GREAT over and over again....

....just kidding of course....hope to see your shot in the Free Study.

___edit___

I see you still have some catching up to do. Give it a try...you can do it.

Dang, that's gotta be awkward. How on earth do you change lenses? And if you don't mind my asking, what's a "one-handed keyboard"? In any case, hang in there: we love ya!

Awesome dolphnz8...congrats!
I work with a girl who was born with one full set of fingers on her left hand, and a thumb and pinkie on the right hand. We work at a factory, where everyone is always slamming their fingers in something and she jokes that she's got it better than we do, cause she doesn't have as many fingers to smash up. I think the best people are the ones who can laugh at themselves.
Do you have a pic of thise new keyboard? I'm curious to see it. Great job on the commenting! Keep up the great work.

All 26 are there, but in some funny places -- the "U" is over on the left next to the Spacebar, to be operated with the right thumb.

Pretty clever -- do they make a left-handed version too?

I am on my laptop, as I bought a house and am almost moved out, but here is a pic of the keyboard....and HERE......
...
are my nubbies. You can see that they removed, after 13 total surgeries, the section between my thumb and index finger to give me that "crab-claw" to be able to pick things up. Sorry I am so slow posting right now, but I'm a little "SHORT-HANDED" at the moment!!!!

ROTFLMAO...I crack me up!!! You guys are the greatest!!!!

A VERY long story short:

>March 8, 2003, woke up with pain as if hand had gone to sleep...pins and needles

>had lasted for 3 hours and eventually went to emergency room @ 11:00am

>they asked me if I smoked..I said yes..they said, "You must have
Raynauds Syndrome...a circulation problem"...HERE, take this Vicodin and call me in the morning"

>Hurt all night long, no relief..went back to emergency room @ 3am

>they said...hmmmmmmmmm...take this percocet and call us in the morning, and oh...are you still smoking????

>massive pain the rest of the day...started to lose mobility in my hand, fingers, well, you could pinch them and see that the blood would not come back to the white area very quickly...

>7pm same night...went back to E.R., in fetal position on floor in pain amnd refused to go away until they did something...morphine did not help...

I will continue thjis story when i am on my new keyboard...what happened was...the blood clot broke off of me aorta, went half way up my neck, made a U-turn and wqent down m,y arm...went 60some hours with no circulation to my hand...tissue died, turned black and hard as coal, and they had to cut MY FINGERS OfF...

....ANYWAY...I LIKE TELLING PEOPLE THAT I USED TO WORK AT SEA-AQUARIUM FEEDING THE SHARKS... :o) WILL FINISH MY STORY ABOUT THE HOSPITAL LOSING MY RECORDS DURING MY LAWSUIT LATER....

oooopppsss..Sorry about the caps...

Ther was something else I wanted to say ....I just can't put my FINGER on it right now!!! mwaaaaaaaaaahahahahahah

Truly a harrowing story, yet one which could have had a far more catestrophic outcome had the clot not diverted into your arm and instead lodged in the carotid artery or a major branch.

Your ability to derive humor from the circumstances is extremely healthy -- just last week I heard about the release of the results of another study confirming the healing power of laughter.

Hi dear friend, Cindy,

First of all girl, you "ROCK", and I am so proud of you.

I know we often pm each other with support, but you have come such a long way, and you are a very special and unique person. Never put yourself dowm, as you do have so much to give and also you are very talanted as well.

I can see the growth in your images, and I am so proud to call you a "FRIEND".

Here are some of "my favorites", re your images in you portfolio.....

love your old boots... should have scored much higher...

love ducklings, so soft and cuddly... Another favorite... and also love most of you portfolio images, especially your flower ones.....
