Yes, you seem to be, although I think the red shirt in the latest entry distracted from the real center of focus of the shot.

i would say definitely.
assuming the 2 photos are typical shots that you used to take and currently take.

I know - Had it all in Black and White, but the shirt didn't look very "NEW" in Gray. - Maybe I should've made it a nice cheesie yellow colour....

maybe coloring the hat would have helped accentuate that the dress and the hat were both new. would have added a bit more color and still kept the B&W/color look to it.

Very True - problem was that the HAT is black - and a nice dark velvet black at that. My Advanced editing skills are not close to the level of getting black to another colour.
Some people DO like the red colour though. Personally I enjoy it MUCH more than the Gray. Comparing the two, the one with the red looks MUCH more alive than the B&W.

i am horrible at post processing. i cannot do most of the stuff that goes on here. i can sort of do the recoloring thing, but not where it looks real.
i have been working at it a bit and am getting better but still not up to par.
i was thinking that the hat could be like purple and the dress red with the rest in B&W.

It's pretty easy. You just use a B&W layer over a color layer and mask or delete from the B&W layer what you want to be in color.

I will give it a shot and see what it looks like. Will PM you with the result. Good idea - might work.
