What are your best selling types of microstock photos?

This is my best selling photo, followed by a few isolated object shots.

What's selling well for you?

I saw this one on Photographers Direct. You sell the same pictures on Shutterstock and Photographers Direct?

This is mine, not that I have many up at the moment

I'm curious - how many of you have pictures of people on their stock photography portfolios? Many of the bet selling images above don't feature people at all. I thought images with people were supposed to be the best sellers....

Normally not but since they asked for B&W I made an exception.

I'm confused; I thought they refused to have anything to do with anyone who 'dirtied' themselves by selling on sites like Shutterstock?

Define "they".

Sorry, I meant Photographers Direct. To quote directly from their site :

"The only exceptions are micropayment sites such as istockphoto, canstockphoto, shutterstock, dreamstime, bigstockphoto, crestock - we cannot represent photographers who market their images on these sites."

You are correct and if I would have known this when I signed up with PD I would not have signed. I misunderstood there meaning and thought they meant they would not except photos that are posted on microstock sites. I have only answered one request and sent just a few images to this site for that one request. I may let this play out to see what happens and decide which direction I will go in the future as far as Micro or DP type sites. That being said, I understand there dislike towards the microstock sites but disagree with there concepts towards photographers. We as photographers should have the right to sell our work in the venue of our choice and the buyers should have the choice to buy from who they wish. If I make a product, I have the choice to sell to Wal-Mart or Gucci of Beverly Hills and they intern have the right to reject my product based on weather it fits there standard but not because I sell to one store or the other. Anyway, I̢۪ll keep you posted as to what happens.

As a courtesy to those with slow internet connections, please post large images as links or thumbnails linked to portfolio versions. Thanks.

I'm actually kind of embarrassed to say, it's this one. I wish it would sell on Bigstock as well as it does on Istock.

Can I take it that you're not a fan of microstock sites?

I wonder what people would want a shot of pig booty for?

I think there are images that belong in microstock sites and some that aren't. The value of a license to use a photo is determined by the usage. If some kid has a blog and wants to use your photo 10 cents might be a fair price. I think most of you guys in the future will look back and think "I cant believe I was giving my stuff away that cheap". I think if I were uploading to these sites I would only give them so many pixels and save the large ones for real money.

Here is a shot I sold in January Nothing spectacular but worth $250. Some of the images I see you guys are selling look like they could have some large usages. It seems like it would insulting to cash that check. I wonder where the market will be in 5 or 10 years.
