I did some macro photo's this weekend and saw what I thought was "a" bug in the water, then when I viewed the photo, saw that it was two.
Anyway, thought I would share and see if anyone knew, as the wings look similar on them but the bodies certainly do not match.

I think they're exhibiting the behaviour which renowned animal behaviourist Dr. Allan Green would describe as 'gettin' it on'. |

OMG, I thought maybe that's what was going on...obviously there is a big difference in gender appearance.
I don't know what they are, looked up some insect sites and couldn't find anything that looked like them.

Hmm, I think they are ants. We get swarms of winged ants around my house every summer... They look a lot like these two. |

bugs are totally embroiled in gender inequity issues, and the brothers often get the short end of the stick. this image reminded me of woody allen and mira sorvino in 'mighty aphrodite' but even then the similarities ar elargely superficial. this little beggar probably got eaten after the ordeal, or at the very least died in the process. woody, i think, got a golden globe. |

Of course, the big females go through carrying and laying all those eggs and then go get pregnant again! She likely wishes she was the one that was eaten after this shot!

I do not know, but if a bug is ill and lethagic, the others might just check it out (from the culinary point of view). I was shooting spring crocuses a couple of days ago, and saw a bee with a sort of ant crawling all over it. This is the picture taken just before the ant mounted - the actual scene didn't come out :(/.

I took the bugs off that gallery as I now know what they were doing and shared the photos with some of my co-workers who might not see that photograph as 'art'. I work in a children's program so we're pretty conservative!!
