Those are awesome! I really badly want to do aviation photography once I'm out of school - two of my favorite things rolled into one. If only I lived somewhere with more airshows...
Thanks for the link!

Rory, that is one badazz shot! What lens/settings did you use to capture that? |

Thanks for the comment. You have made my day.
There are a few more here

I really need to return to the location with a longer lens. These were trial shots taken on a very cold March afternoon.

Aaah, the 70-200L.... A sweet piece of glass for sure :) Great set of photos as well! I really like the composition of IMG_9012 and the moment you captured with con-trails coming off the leading edge of the wings. |

Cool shots. I've got an air to air gig this week, shooting an aerobatic plane. Looking forward to it! 70-200 IS for sure. The pilots who are both shooters say, um, leave the lens hood off (or it will leave, while shooting out the open window.) W00t! At least the plane I'll be in is high wing, to help a little with lens flare. Open to any tips, my only other av shooting has been out the window of float planes (in Alaska) and commercial aircraft, but I used to do it a lot. |

I have just had img 9012 back from photobox as panoramic print format. It looks a lot sharper than the image on the site.
Just for info I had the camera set to Manual mode. I took my exposure reading off the hill on the other side of the valley. This in theory gave me the correct exposure throughout the fly by.

Derf, I love the Stearman shot, at the gas pumps! My favorite plane, and a reminder of an age gone by, when you could do things like that. Totally awesome!
