| I was taking pics of our large bridge here a few days ago. And yes it was listed as a potential target a few weeks back. But at the end of the shoot all I had were pics of a very large bridge. Yes, grand in scale and a wonder of achievement. But just a bridge none the less that didn`t "say anything". I tried to get it to say something with different viewpoints and angles, but it was only just a bridge for me. I saw some wonderful covered bridges in Oregon when I lived there. I wish I had one of those to shoot instead. For me, they have a story to tell and I could bring that out in a shot. I think the bridge that wins the challenge next week will not be one of the grand bridges of the world like the Golden Gate bridge etc. I think it will be a small bridge, old and broken down perhaps, that has a story to tell and will give that story up in a shot... |

| I think we will see some great pictures in this one (Bridges). Personally, I took a ton of pictures of a particular bridge and in the end, I did finally choose a "traditional" shot for my submission. I may have made a mistake because I had a couple other good ones with completely different perspectives but we'll see. :) |

I agree. Photography is so much like telling a story. If we can hint that there is a story that has just happened, is happening or will happen, that is often when our photos "say something."

This is the challenge I have submitted to. I have only been taking photographs for 12 months and I found it difficult to convey any sort of a message, but one has to start somewhere. I enjoyed taking part in my first challenge anyway.

| I went out to take pictures for the bridge challenge today and I found the perfect shot! Unfortunatly, it required a wide angle lense that I did not have. I got the seperate pieces of the shot, but I'm not allowed to photoshop them together. It would have been a very magical photo. Still, I got some great shots during my quest, unfortunately none of the ones I really like are of a bridge. I tried. |

Sorry to hear that you missed that magical shot. I would think a lot of wide angle lenses come out of moth balls this week. I used mine.
(now that I look at it, should "moth balls" be one word?) LOL! |

Boy was I surprised to see the controversey I created by posting my "Warning about Bridges" post. I only meant it as a public service announcement. Sorry about that. None the less I failed to mention that I did get the picture and I will be posting it in the challenge this week. I will not be drawing attention to it by mentioning my experience in the title. So you all will have to guess which picture it is. No question that it was a metaphorical experience.
