It would be interesting if they made it: "Give us your best shot from yesterday," and it occured randomly throughout the year. Then people would be motivated to go out and shoot something everyday, just in case, rather than shooting specifically for a challenge. Kind of like a PAD project. |

No. Ultimately Lazy.
All too often I say "I'll just shoot it tomorrow." I gotta stop that - tomorrow never gets here and I'm way behind on my todays.
I work at a great university with wonderful old buildings and grounds, lots of things going on, and an interesting and diverse group of students and faculty. I take my camera to work everyday (duh) and have managed to shoot only about 50 pics in 10 days. Sad! I figure I can do it tomorrow. I gotta stop. Yesterday, there were some kids on the mall who set up a tightrope and were practicing. I had my camera, I had a few moments, I was fascinated by what they were doing, I thought it would be great for a Candid shot and what did I do? Kept walking. Now I'm kicking myself in the butt. I should have stopped.
I've got to stop putting things off... |

Yeah, never mind. Apparently this already happened though I still like the idea to do again.

Trouble with retrospective (is that the right word?) challenges is that anyone can set their camera date back 1 day and nobody would ever know.

wouldn't that be the same with any challenge then? I didn't look too closely at the rules were but aren't the challenge pictures supposed to be taken within the challenge dates?
I guess a true free study speed challenge hasn't been done yet then?

No, it wouldn't be the same. Last day to submit a photo is the day the challenge expires. Set your camera back a day to meet that date, you're still one day too late to submit the shot.
I suppose setting the camera date forward a day or two is probably working out well for the psychics among us though. |

Well I'm pretty sure you don't have to be a psychic to benefit from that. If you know this week's challenges don't fit then it's more like playing the lottery by setting your date ahead a week and hope what you shoot will work for whatever is announced. Not that I have done that but it wouldn't surprise me if others have.

i've never done it, and wouldn't because my conscience wouldn't allow it, but it did cross my mind once. :) |
