Kirbic visited Arizona recently. When here he and I went on a couple little photo safaris. One to Hieroglyphic Canyon and one to Sedona.
He seems like an intelligient and unassuming guy on DPC, and he is super helpful and a great photographer, but he is different in person. When taking pictures with him you immediately get a sense a superior "I've-got-a-Canon-5D-and-you-don't" attitude. He thinks he is so hot with his camera and truckload of lenses.
I actually don't mind that part so much except for his swagger and "eat-your-heart-out" sneer. Then he started bad mouthing my shot selections, perspective, exposures and the smell of my mouthwash.
After that he says, "Stdavidson (he always calls me by my screen name), you'll never take any pictures as good as me". Then he explains,"Why would I have Captain Picard as my profile picture if it weren't true?".
Psychiatrists have identified this type of behavior as a variation of the Stockholm Syndrome where kidnappers, through intimidation over time, evoke sympathy of victims to their captors. This variation is called the Stockyard Syndome because of its similarity to a certain aroma.
So I'll put up a couple modest, untouched shots from my little box camera so you can see pictures I took. Kirbic's extensively post processed images are linked below.
You judge for yourself.
Kirbic's gallery of extensively post-processed Arizona pictures
First 5 pictures in Steve's Hieroglyphic Canyon gallery were taken with kirbic
First three panoramas taken with kirbic
Be sure to view the three panoramas at full size. The guy on the far right in the first one is kirbic. I ask you this, can you really trust a guy who wears his hat backwards? I don't think so.
The first panorama is made from 7 images in one horizontal row in portrait layout. The other panorama is made from 12 images taken in two horizontal rows of 6 pictures each in portrait layout. That one has both a color and B&W version. The full resolution versions of these image are much, much larger than the web versions.

Awesome shots, both of you!
And I love the panos, even the one with Kirbic in it. :-)

Funny post. Great shots.

yeah, that kirbic. that macho swagger is really off-putting. after i met him i'll never forget how he peeled out on his hog, spraying everyone on the sidewalk with shards of broken glass and other road debris.
i'm still picking bits of gravel out of my forehead. those on my cheeks were loosened only by my tears.
*sigh* |

Why, stdavidson, tsk, tsk. After Kirbic went to all that trouble to wear a nice photogenic red shirt for you!
I'd say you two fought to a Draw. (and I hope you photographed it) |

And you notice too how he always stands in the way of the picture you are trying to take? When you move, he moves. I had to clone him out.

He said he forgot and left his chartreuse, spandex outfit with the lace on it at home.

Heck, I figure my humor is self explanatory... doesn't need artificial add-ons to make people think it is supposed to be funny.
Welllll... that would be like giving a DPC submission a title strictly to make it fit the challenge. I'd never do that... no, not me... take my entry in the Education challenge, for example.

Good, I was worried there for a minute.
Are you guys getting together for another photo-shootout when he's down in Arizona this next week? Getting yourself prepared for his all-knowing, supreme-being attitude? |

Remember to speak nicely to Kirbic -
He calls rattlesnakes, and gets them to coil nicely
like this one from the Antelope Valley shoot |

Yup... I agree... the guy is a snake!
Oh... btw... I'll see his rattlesnake and raise him 11 more!
Stdavidson... the snake charmer!

It's the damndest thing; when Kirbic was visiting ME, he was so humble, so grovelling, so danged subservient I almost pitied him. He did things like hold out his 5D and say "I know it's not much of a camera, oh Master, but will you bless it for me?"
And I guess I must have, even if inadvertently, because HIS duotone of ME beat out MY duotone of HIM rather handily... There's no other possible explanation, is there?
Oh, wait... I shot MY picture with HIS camera... shoot, there goes THAT rationalization...
Seriously, hell of a nice guy and a good houseguest. I highly recommend "Call Kirbic for a Good Time!"
Robt.

I will only be in attendance if there will be ample time to torture the both of you.
The more severe beating will go to the owner of the number on the bathroom wall!

That reminds me. For trying something like that in a back alley in Sedona kirbic now has to wear an ankle tracking bracelet wherever he goes.

Hmmmmmmm... Bear_Music writes suspiciously nice things about site council kingpin, kirbic, and right after kirbic's visit then Bear_Music suddenly gets a blue ribbon. Isn't that special?
Coincidence, or conspiracy? You be the judge.

Here is my humble picture of the Chapel of the Holy Cross. You can compare mine with kirbic's from that same Sedona safari.
I don't wanna brag, but new Pope Whats-His-Name said mine looked reverent.

I could not agree more. I saw how kirbic shamelessly copied your fine work and claimed it has his own. It should be DQed from Smugmug.
For example, I would never do such a thing. As proof I submit this image I took when with kirbic in Sedona:

While it's obvious kirbic ripped off LoudDog's tree, it's quite clear that yours is a completely different scene.
I applaud your loyalty to follow DPCers.
I also notice he copied your image here:

with this:

Just shameful! |
