Low Key was my third challenge and last for awhile. I am extremely confused and disappointed.
13th Place and Nine voters felt this was worthy of a 1.
116 voters out of 221 felt it was worthy of a 7 or higher.

Only 5 images in the twelve that finished above mine had votes of 1 (the most was 2 votes).

Thanks to all those that voted on the technical merits of the image. I do appreciate the great comments.

It's because of the nudity....there are always going to be prissy close-minded people out there that give your photo a 1, based on the sole faact that it shows some skin.

Don't take it personally...it happens to everyone.

Please keep entering, I absolutely lover the photo. I ghave it a 9. And 13th place is nothing to be ashamed of...heck, that's higher than all but one of my photos.

Keep it up.

IMO, it was probably the nudity that got ya the low votes, it's happened to the best of us.

Or perhaps it was the nudity that got ya the high votes.

Voted a 7 myself. While I liked the contouring on the legs, I felt the torso could have been less in light.

Just as an example, my photo:

It recieved five 1 scores, and it didn't even show any nudity! Sometimes the voters can be a little stuck up and snobbish around here, you just have to learn to take it like it is and move on.

oh well at least i get to sleep with the model in the photo every night and she gives me a blue ribbon.
It's a dirty job....

That sucks man. Low key challenges were meant for stuff like this.

Ease up there Caleb - I didn't vote on either of these and I may not vote an image a 1 because of nudity, but I respect the opinions of those who choose to do so, just as I respect the opinions of those who vote ones on all woody shots. Just because their opinions are different than yours does not mean they are prissy, close-minded, snobbish, or stuck-up.

Respect others' opinions as you would like them to respect your decision to skirt certain challenge guidelines.

I may not like pictures of dogs all that much, but if I see one that is technically correct and a good photo I am going to score it accordingly. I'm not going to give it a 1 just because it has a dog in it.

I can see what you mean though...it is there opinion and I accept it. That is why I also said "you just have to learn to take it like it is and move on."

I would not take it personally. Photography is art. In any large group of people, there will be those that do not appreciate or understand or misinterpret what the artist is saying. Do not let that group of people guide your decisions.

Hope to see you around for more challenges.

You also have to remember that this is a global website, not an American website, and there are many different cultures out there, some of whom will find nudity (of any kind) offensive.

Personaly I like both the examples.

Funnily enough I finished just above you with an entry that had a similar theme.

Anything that finishes in the top 20 is a good submission and it means you did a good job. However the entries that finsihed above you had broader appeal as they recieved less low votes. Generally speaking the winning submissions will not only have the most high votes but also the the least low votes.

cheers,
bazz.
