I just saw an article in the April issue of Outdoor Photography. They had a great article on Flash-blur Photography (pg 70, if you have the magazine).

I wanted to try my hand at this, but was wondering if anyone has already done it? Do you have any photos to show?

I was shooting at a fund raiser dance and found it worked better than anyother method of lighting. Nice sense of place and motion with defined subjects. Just be sure you can get second curtain sync so the trail of blur is behind the flash frozen subject.

These were done using flash (SB-800). Don't know if that's what you are looing for.
I didn't do any shots slower than 1/30sec.

Here is one that I did... I've got a few more, just not posted online. Alot harder to accomplish than I thought it was going to be.

Here is one example that I've done, there are more in that album...I actually photographed my entire sister's wedding reception that way...great for dance images...I used 1/30 shutter speed and second curtain sync.

second curtain sync is when the flash fires as the shutter is about to close as opposed to firing as teh shutter opens.

Perhaps not quite the kind of thing you were looking for, but the technique is the same.

Here's mine. D70 with SB800 flash rear sync with about 1/15 shutter.

But now I can't figure out how to do this with the built-in flash on the EOS 20D....

On my D70 there is a small button near the flash. As I hold in that button, I scroll through the flash options and stop when it says "rear curtian".

Maybe it is similar on yours.
