"...submitter hereby assigns all rights, titles, and interests in and to the images and descriptions (including derivative and moral rights) to the Sponsor.

I know, this may open the whole copyright can of worms again, but......

That's about as complete a giveaway as you could ask for ... you could't even make prints for yourself without their permission. |

I knew somebody would jump on that :(
It's a fscking donation for fscks sake.
It doesn't have to be a work of art. Just a photo. Any photo. Any crappy out of focus noisy blurred cameraphone PoS will do.
[/rant]
For once please drop the Intellectual Property crap and do something for somebody other than yourselves.

I believe I'll have to do some serious soul searching before I give away complete rights on any photo.
I like the idea, but then again... let's just say I'll have to think about it.

| I don't think it's fair that you won't be able to use your own photo in the future, but the truth is, you don't have to give them your greatest work. I submitted a snapshot of me and my girlfriend, which I thought was a nice picture, and if they use it, I would be happy to give it away. You may not think a dollar is enough to buy your photo, but it's not about the money, it's about the cause. Just be happy and participate. No big loss. |

Perhaps you could consider using less offensive language if you hope to rally troops to your cause. Your tone says a lot about you.

Consider it a challenge, go out and shoot something that is apropriate for the idea of overcomming cancer. If you make it with the idea of giving it away it might not sting to give all rights to such a noble cause.

Is it possible to include a disclaimer that the submitter reserves the right to use the photo for his/her own personal use at any time they see fit?
I don't mind tossing one of my crummy snaps in the mix, but I'm a little concerned that I won't be able to use it after this.
Oops, it looks like a non-issue for non-americans. HP and whoever only seem interested in donating if AMERICANS donate their photos. I am neither American nor live there, so I can't even get past their required field of which State I live in.
Beh.
And I was going to give 5 pics...

Well, it doesn\'t say anywhere in the terms that you must live in the US, nor does it actually say that \"state\" refers to the state in which you live ; )
I donated \"on behalf of\" Louisiana.

Good cause, good idea. I wasn't sure what to upload but it might be fun when it's completed to see pictures of people you know, so I put up one of my children with a snowman from 2002. Figure that way it's not a problem of copyright either, as I am not going to hang this in a gallery ;)
