I was thinking it would be cool to have a light box/light table for my little ministudio for some still life shots. Any suggestions? Things to look for: number of bulbs, type, size?
I was looking at some like:
Hakuba LB 810 8 X 10 Light Box ($37.95)
Adorama Color Corrected AC Light-Box, 8.5" x 11".
Port a Trace
Advice appreciated!

Not a clue, but I have looked into them. They have a slew at B & H. Would be interested in seeing the responses you get as well. If you get one, let me know what you think of it. Size of the ones noted s/b OK if you are only going to do macro and small objects.

Paul thanks--that's for (at least what I would call) a light tent. I didn't see recommendations for a light box/table. (Basically for sorting slides, but can also be used as a light table for photographing small objects).
I have already looked into light tents--I am still tempted to buy one, but I squirreled away the URL for easy-to-build plans found at: Light Tent. (This may be the plan they used to build the light tent they are talking about in that thread--I just scanned the thread looking for discussion of a light box)
(I do notice that some people are calling this a light box, including in the URL.)

Neil,
I got to thinking that it wouldn't be that hard to make a light tent/box using two or three bulbs like this in clamp on desk lamps as shown in that thread:

These bulbs seem to give a whole lot of lumens for 85W! I also wonder if they could be used for portraits. I never saw bulbs like this before and they look like they'd last a long time and be very bright. |
