Ummm, how do you get a review team? I would like to apply for one of those:)

I was going to take two weeks off from challenges. Couldn't stick with it. I am in too, and I love the shot. It is really clear and precise and the color is sooooo pretty. Anyway, one of my personal review board for my photos said it made them feel very happy to look at it. I hope it makes all of you happy, too, even if it doesn't score high.

To give you fair warning I have entered the Water.

To save face you have one hour and forty-five minutes to withdraw your entries.

Fear my water entry.

One hour thirty minutes to withdraw - your time is running out.

alfresco, your boldness is commendable, but I was actually wondering if it is too late to make a wager on my entry. I guess we have something in common. We both have confidence in our entry. Ahem, I will get top 10. Fact!

Also,

Other than oversharpening, this image is perfect. Not that the image is too sharp, but slightly less might make it easier on the eyes.

Why thank you for the compliment and critique; you're quite right, less would have been more on that photo.

As to the water - you can have nine of the top ten, the top spot has been reserved tyvm ;)

*it's not a pre-challenge w/o a little trash talk*

So, we have spot number and spot number two taken - the rest of you have one hour and ten minutes to save face.

:P

So, 4000 miles away from home, I get to take some great water shots in Washington DC. I am laid back all Sunday and then drag the SD card into the slot, do all of the previews and rejections and kick off PSP X to fine tune the images.

It freezes so I uninstall and re-install. It freezes again. I repeat as before. It repeats as before. There is an hour and a half to go. Time for drastic measures...

Reload the Gimp. Works first time but needs more manual attention. Can only process 2 images and then realise that they dont cut it. Re-scan the images and see something a little better. Do the Gimp on it but realise that it is hardly advanced editing. But somehow it does the job and I submit.

Could this be another brown for me? All of the omens are there...

Chuckle - what a day!

Hmm...all it said was water had to play an important role in your composition...not be the subject...

I drank a lot of water while taking the photo, that better count ... well, it will count - all the way to number one!

Isn't anyone up to trashing?

Eeeeeeee. . . .all these sure thing's for ribbons has left me feeling a little inadequate about my water photo. I like mine, butttttttttttt I'm not sure it can compete with all these sure things. Oh well. Someone's gotta be mediocre, right? :)
03/26/2006 11:00:16 PM · #40
Just so everyone is aware, that waterfall photo falls far far short from my water entry. That waterfall wouldn't carry the water to my water entry. That waterfall is a bucket of bilge compared to my water entry.

Man - I'm trash talking myself, I better take it easy on me.

I talk a good game but once the whistle blows I fade quickly ... eeerrrrr, I mean - yeah, FEAR my water entry!!

alfresco,

your gamesmack is good, but your top four photos don't even take you above the avg 6.0 barrier (5.928). So odds are........well, I think we all know the odds. : ) So SandyP, don't even worry. Except for my entry of course, but that comes every go around....

As the madam of the Middling Masses Massacre, I'm proud to announce that my mediocre (non)masterpiece has been duly submitted. Thank you very much. I now return you to your regularly scheduled trash talking.

And if ANYONE has ever successfully installed SATA RAID1 by somehow cloning or ghosting their current OS to the RAID'd drive, so as to have a bootable system, please PM me. I'm about to turn the desktop into a boat anchor. And I've nowhere to anchor a boat.

Only 3? Have you installed some sort of anti-troll trojan into the JPEG?
