Given they are about the same price, which would you choose?

i would go with the white lens man! mine's been through a lot and it still survives to this day.

you heard about this right?

Depends on what you'll be shooting. If you need the speed of 2.8, get the Sigma. If you'll mostly be shooting in adequate light, the Canon should have better image quality, build quality and a lot better focusing.

both are good lenses.
Between those two lenses, I'd get the sigma b/c of the wider aperature.
The new version of the simga is a "macro" version as well.

It was just announced. It takes Sigma a few months from announcement till actual availablity.

So you can either buy the current version or wait a bit and see.

I just ordered this one and should get it next week. I stuck with Canon just because thats all I have now and I like the lenses and the service.

I did it. I just got the CANON EF 70-200mm f/2.8L with 2X extender on Ebay.
