Some new lenses have all these attributes.

Damn fine optics too.

That picture is kinda funny. This dude with a huge camera and a guy with a tiny one taking a picture of him. Is this camera irony? :P

That's a telescope, not a lens. Stay on topic here! ;o)

Is that available for Canon mount? If not, is there an adapter? I wouldn't mind using that with manual focus. ;-)

Excuse me....

Um, would you like to explain the difference to all of us. Sure...that may be a telescope...but I am pretty sure that it also contains a lens.

Perhaps you meant only SLR compatible lenses???

So far, most of the lens' posted are all telescopes.

tel·e·scope Audio pronunciation of "telescope" ( P ) Pronunciation Key (tl-skp)
n.

An arrangement of lenses or mirrors or both that gathers visible light, permitting direct observation or photographic recording of distant objects.

Hence, the Canon 1200mm & Nikkor 1200mm-1700mm both equate to the definition of telescopes.

...but in everday use they are known as a lens, not a telescope. Telescopes don't have to have a large image circle to project an image on a film plain like lenses do.

That's why there are lenses AND telescopes. :D

Knowing me, if I had control of it, I'd be pointing it back at earth and checking out some nice European beaches ;-)

"...but in everday use they are known as a lens, not a telescope."

Many a physics geek has simply called their new telescopes a "new lens".

"Telescopes don't have to have a large image circle to project an image on a film plain like lenses do."

I have a nagging feeling that the telescope I posted projects a large image circle, albeit I could be wrong. But I do wonder if it's more than enough to fill Canon's full frame digital CCD.

"That's why there are lenses AND telescopes. :D"

Really, then what the hell is this "glass" everyone talks about. Goes and pours himself a nice shot of burbon into his Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 IS.

"Holy !@#$%...image stabilization DOES help counter the effects of burbon!"

So you admit it was a telescope and not a lens. Enough for me. ;o)

Naw...I say they're all simply "glass"... *toasts*

I am asking you to differentiate between a lens, telescope, magnifying glass, Canon L glass, drinking glass, and while we're at it... lens, lense, lenz, lends, borrows, burrows, boroughs...

;-)
