On a whim, we thought we'd take a ride up to Toronto this weekend. We're definitely going to want to do the CN Tower, but I'm open for suggestions as to what else we should see while we're there. It'll be me, my wife and our 7-year-old daugther.
We'll head up first thing tomorrow morning, getting there in the early afternoon. We'll probably want to spend the night somewhere south of the city, and stop at the falls on the way home.
Any suggestions you might have for some other "must see" attractions that might fit into a tight timeframe would be appreciated!

TheToronto Zoo is very good. The Ontario Science Centre is interesting and they have a large kids area. Take a look at Toronto.com for some ideas for other places to go. |

you could come to my place just east of the city and forget your camera equipment there. :-)
if you like shopping, make sure to hit the toronto eaton centre... close to the CN Tower. |

With a 7 year old in tow, I would definately recommend the Ontario Science Centre. It's a place for kids of all ages. |

Thanks for the tips... well, except for the one suggesting I drop off my camera stuff at Saint August's place :)
We'll be doing some Geocaching along the way, too... so it'll be a pretty packed weekend. Thanks again for your help! |

I just loaded about 700 into my receiver... I've found 499 to date, so I thought I'd do the Big 5-0-0 on this trip. I see there are a couple just a short distance from the CN Tower.

Um, I'll try to swing by there "on the way" home... should only add a couple thousand miles to the trip! :)

OK, Y'all know I am going to say ..come to The Distillery District for brunch !!
I do not know about your 7 year old, tho, unless she is precocious, and being an only child, she maybe! ( I am one ;) )We have alot of galleries, art, photo, etc, and restaurants and shops on the site. It is a great place to take pics, too!
I will say no where near as much fun as the Science Centre for a kiddly, but it is more central to the tower.
Riverdale farm is fun...

The ideas posted so far are great but unfortunately, each one is a full days outing. Perhaps you're not looking to be confined to one place for that long. What we do when we feel like a trip around Toronto is hit the downtown core west of Yonge St. Spadina has the fashion district and Chinatown. A little south towards the lake you've got the Skydome which is the Rodgers cente now and the Air Canada Centre. Go to the Esplanade for a varity of good and popular restaurants. North on yonge Street past bloor is Yorkville which is THE upscale shopping and people watching area... lots of very cool restaurants and nightlife. Alot of celebrities hang out around there but it's very pricy. Anywhere around Bay St. and University south to the lake and you'll see the financial ditrict with tall tall buildings and Government buildings etc. Basically just drive around that whole area and stop when something strikes your fancy. Feel free to ask if you want more... :)

It's a geeky game involving a GPS. In short, people hide various things throughout the world (there's undoubtedly one within a mile or two of you right now!), mark the coordinates with a GPS receiver, and post those at Geocaching.com.
Then other people visit the caches, trade items found inside, and log their visit. It's highly addictive, and takes you to some really cool places! Did I mention it's also geeky? I can live with that.

Yeah, that certainly would appear to be the case. I have a feeling once we stand in line at the CN Tower, and do that, we'll be ready to eat and start finding lodging! Hopefully we'll have enough time to swing through some of these areas. Chinatown may be an interesting option! |
