OK, so here is yet another "what would you buy" post. I usually don't like these kinda threads, but I am at a loss right now and would love some suggestions.

The Situtation: OK so I just realized that I over payed my credit card last month by about $400. So I got a credit sitting there which they won't send me the cash so I figured I would spend it on some photo stuff.

The Options: My first inclination was to put that money down on a Canon 17-40mm. Now this would cover a little more than half the price and I have wanted this lens for a while now, but price is pushing it a bit. Option 2 is to pick up some much needed accessories such as an extra battery or two, a battery grip and maybe some filters (UV, Polarizer and such for my 70-200). Option 3 is a nice tripod and a few other accesories (like batteries).

The Recommendation: I leave this up to you. I wouldn't mind spending a bit more than the $400, but not too much. Maybe even suggest some things I haven't thought about. Lighting??? (I have a 430ex only) Graphics tablet??? Software (I have PS7)???

So what would you do?

If you are going wide, I would either get the Tokina 12-24 f4 or the Sigma 10-20. Either is around $450 and from reviews very similar in quality to the Canon 10-22.

Accessories are nice, but a new wide lense to play with is the best:)

Good luck in your choice.

The urge to have fun is strong, but I think I'd use a situation like yours to pick up some needed accessories, if it were me. The batteries and grip sound like a good idea. If you research, you may be able to get a decent tripod and some accessories too.
My two cents worth...

Well, B&H has a special promo code out right now knocking $50 off of lenses so I couldn't refuse the price of the 17-40mm L. Just placed the order!

A steal at $629.95 if you ask me!

Thanks! I actually placed the order before I found the promo-code and then had to place it again. So now I have 2 of them on the way to my house!

Anybody want a free lens???

The code is: (sorry, removed code)

Type it into the search field and it will take you to a hidden page with all of the discounts! Shhhhhhhh! ;)

Direct Link Here

edit to add: Not sure I should have posted that since it apparently should not be used by the public. Just found this on another site: "These are show special. It's not menat for you to find out though they will honor the price."
