This was my Square Crop entry. It's my second highest score so I'm pretty happy with that but I was wondering what did this photo in. Was it the food it was eating? The snout not having critical sharpness? Or was it something else?

I thought the idea was very good but maybe people thought it was lame or didn't really get it? The idea was to play off the phrase "three square meals a day" and also tie in the word "crop" as in field crops however I'm not a farmer so I just used some fruits and veggies that I threw out there for the deer to eat. Plus I don't think deer eats grain or that kind of stuff. This was shot on my property btw and it took around 12 hours before a deer showed up.

So long story short, I got an entry in which literally meant a "square crop meal" and it was also cropped as a square per the challenge description.

I saw nothing wrong with it and gave it a ten. The blur of the snout and mouth gives it a sense of motion from chewing. I loved the way you tied everything together! This is a shot you should rightfully be proud of.

That's not a bad score at all. I'd say it didn't score as highly because of the slight blur from camera shake and maybe the harsh contrast on the deer's hair.

I loved this image. I gave it a 9. I would have given a 10 but the only thing that I didn't love what the eating thing. Other than that, I loved the colours, lighting, the tight crop and mostly the expression. Just a really great shot. Congratulations on your top score.
