I've got
Votes: 202
Views: 318 On my square shot and
Votes: 221
Views: 295 On my After life
There are 192 more entries for Square and voting ends tomorrow, yet Afterlife still has 3 more days and it still has a higher vote rate as of now. What gives...do open challenges usually get more votes, has nothing to do with more entries.

square has 350 entries... afterlife has 175....
I don't know about you, but I'd rather vote and comment on 175 than 350...
It has everything to do with more entries! 2 times more in fact! |

Remember also that there is a larger pool of voters for Open challenges than for Member challenges.

I know there are more entries for square, that's what I actualy stated, that's why I thought it was weird more people weren't voting...didn't say anything about commenting either...I know that would be a nightmare.

I think this is a real key point. Any one surfing the net and coming across this site can register and vote on an open. A lot of them may not ever even return again :-) |

Except for one or two challenges, since joining I have voted 100% on every challenge. |

How many members do we have? I don't know if there is a way to know this but out of those how many are active and look every week?

I hear ya as thats a couple more votes than I currently have.
At this rate it looks like there'll be less votes than entrants from the Square challenge. Disappointing that a number of people who entered the challenge can't be bothered to vote.

That depends on how you look at it. There are a lot of members who don't vote on challenges they have entered so they can remain impartial on their voting. And believe it or not, I've heard rumors that some people actually have lives. Stuff like jobs, travel, family etc. and vote when they can. Once you're over a hundred anyways, your score's pretty well settled in usually. Doesn't seem like that big a deal between 200, or 300 votes or whatever. Just my opinion :-) |

Normally I'd agree but with less than 12 hours of voting left only 52% of entrants have spent time on voting (well on my entry anyway). Even less if you give credence to the theory of people not voting on challenges they've entered etc.
That seems an exteremely low participation rate for voting by any standard.
cheers,
bazz

I do tend to vote for challenges with less entries. Awful of me, I know, but if I'm going to vote I'd really like to be fair and if at all possible will try to get through all the entries, which for me seems a safer bet for challenges with fewer entries.
Why am I awake at this hour (US Central). Because I've been coughing my brains out. And what do I turn to? DPC - aaaarrrggghhh! LOL!
BTW, I like voting; it's obvious on my stats. I've voted a lot more (over twice as many) than voters have on my entries.

I would rather have 100 concise votes then 300+ quick view votes. |

I always take my time in the voting process, more so when there are so many entries, just finished "square" don't know if I can make it through the other challenges this week. |

I only vote once per image... I don't know about registered users... |

I don't think you can just use the raw numbers on this type of assumption. Just because by sheer numbers you can say 52%...what about the members who do vote, but not on all images?? Maybe the 20% minimum and them some on ones they like. And if say 10 members do vote that way, what are the chances all ten chose the same 20% to vote on? |

heres a thought.
When there are a lot of entries, maybe people vote on the required 20% and stop.
I usually only vote on enough entries to make my entry count. I hate voting in a challenge I'm in. I vote more on the other challenges. As fair as I try to be in challenges I am in, I can't help but have some bias. Im sure Im not the only one who does this. |
