I am going to be meeting with a friend of mine who is a songwriter for a major label and musician. He is coming to visit, and I wanted the chance to have a shoot with a real musician!!! LoL
So, what kind of pictures or setups would be ideal for a rocker? I want some studio and some outdoors. But I have no clue what to even do!
I know some of you can help me! :)
Thanks,
Lorrie

Maybe for the outdoor shot, look for an old brick wall with graffiti on it as a background. Make it a kind of back alley rock and roll look. If the alley is dirty (old papers lying around, garbage cans turned over, etc) it could add to the rock affect. I hope he is bringing a good outfit to wear too. Not sure if this helps, but just a thought...
Good luck and be sure to post the photos! :-) |

Hmmmm, what about one of those junk yards, you know, where they have all the old crushed up cars? That might make for some interesting photo-ops. Also, there's a shot that Nazgul has of a guy sitting in a chair outside, can't remember if it's in the middle of the road or out in a field, but it's always stuck in my head as a cool rocker shot.
Also check out Bobster Lobsters portfolio or website, he usually has some good stuff too.
Sounds like fun, post some photos when you can. :)

Thanks guys!
I will have to do some scouting around here. Where I live, it's pretty nice and there are not too many alleys. I know where there are alot of ratty looking alleys... but I dunno if I want to be caught there with my camera! LoL It's in town, and well.... town is not a very safe place to be.
I was also thinking about getting an old chair of some sorts and putting it in a field. Does that sound lame? Maybe the train tracks? But they can get to be so overdone.

Make him read some inteligent book in a rocking chair, totally out of character or whatever. Make it look almost oposite of him. I love seeing shots of celebrities doing something you would never expect of them based on their screen personalities. Make him look like an "anti-rocker". I think that would be interesting...just a thought. |

This site has a collection of terrible band shots...probably the funniest site on the topic of cheesy band images.
Look no further if you want to see What Not To Do...
I beg everyone at DPC to look at this site. Please.
It's a testimony to bad photography with many valuable lessons.
