Don't you mean a 5D?

Nope 30D comes out this summer supposedly ;-)

Yeah, and let's not rush him.

One upgrade at a time - he'll have a Mark something by this time next year.

Crayon, we're here for ya buddy.

Just let me know when you are ready to unhand that 20D.

Here's a bit of advice Shin.

When I bought my bike, I had enough money to buy the mid-level parts. But I knew I would always be lusting for the higher end ones. So i saved up some money by selling aluminum cans and bought the best one.

Nowadys, I don't even look at bike cataloigs anymore. No need. I've got the top of the line in my garage baby :)

So you're saying I should get a Mark-something as my very first dSLR system? Good piece of advise, but I'd have to sell an arm and a leg!

no what i'm saying is, the 20D will go down in price soon after they release the 30D. The XT will be a good substitute as well to the 20D. Don't get the 300D. Save some money and get the 8 megapixel ones :) Then save your money for the glass ;)

Go get a russian rangefinder at around 20 bucks in a flea market, otherwise you're never gonna get satisfied.

How many months do you have with your fuji?

Dude I think you should at least have 6 months with it before you buy anything new, it wouldn't make sense to buy a new camera when you're not even that familiar with your current one. This upgrade and newer versions thing will never cease. Hold your breath and keep going three more months. Plus you'd be able to save more money.

And then go nikon!

I dont have a brand preference (yet?) but it's suprising you're saying "go nikon" coz you profile shows you using a Canon. Just curious :)

Frankly, I'm leaning towards higher resolution, so it's likely a Canon since the more affordable range for me means I'll be choosing a 350D or a D50 or a KMD5D. The 350D has the highest pixel count.

edit: you're right... 3 months is a short time for a new camera. I'll be back in 3 more months with another post asking for help. Thanks for the "HELP" guys... darn it... lol

Resist, Crayon, Resist....use the Fuji Force! Don't let all these Evil Canon Empire people tempt you...resist!

Hey...where are the Nikon peeps here...only one....guess they're not as desperate to recruit for some reason or other...can't imagine what it might be....Isn't there always one Nikon user who states "If you are serious about photography you have got to get an SLR!" Or is he a Canon Clone as well? Funny thing is when I look at the portfolio of the author of a such a statement I usually end up wondering what they were going on about.

ORoB-ben-fuji says Crayon....you're doing great with what you got. You should save and wait and get what you want when when you can get everything you want in a an SLR. Think of that first...they may not make what you want yet or maybe soon will. Think of everything we can do with just our "pitiful" Point and Shoots that may require another lense on a SLR. SLR's are great....are they better? Perhaps. But getting one just for the sake of having one is something I have not been able to justify quite yet.

Of course, you just know if I hit the lotto tomorrow, I'll be at a Ritz the next day! LOL! But would I get an SLR? Hmmmm. Still not sure.

May the fuji force be with you!

Hey another fellow Fuji user :) I see you have been using the Fuji S-series for 3 models straight, sweet! The S7000 that you're using is one great camera, too bad I cant say the same for my S5600 - I've already found some limits to what it could do. Right now, my biggest complaint is details and dynamic range. I get blown-outs so often I feel like crying (ok, maybe not, but you get the picture)

anyway, here's Fuji dSLR that seem unpopular over here in DPC? I find it rather "attractive" :)

I'm buying a nikon. But you know if you want something cheap that's two thumbs up, you should go canon. Oh and beware the 300D... But that's something you'll hear about in three months. :)

I am soon going over to Nikon as well. If you have the money, the D200 is a great option. I started a thread about this camera and received some good feedback. Check it out HERE
