I got a 5.442 for my first shot. I was really pleased with the score but then I wallowed in the 4's for subsequent submissions for quite some time. This photo was for the "tools of the trade" challenge.

For the "Everyday Objects" Challenge in July, 2004.

So...what's white balance, again?

Maybe a tad bit on the boring side, but it was a "Simplicity" challenge so there ya go. At the time, I was ecstatic about almost hitting a 5.5 on my first challenge. :-)

Didn't take long for me to find my first (and only) Challenge Entry:

Luckily (and humbly) received a 5th place and 6.671.

Been having trouble finding any images that are worthy of an Entry.

I got a 4.330 on this one, my lowest score to date. It was one of the first photographs I had ever taken, which I think I have come a long way from. The cool thing was that even though it didn't score very well, someone marked it as a favorite.

The Calunga is not a 'woodie.' Yes though, it is made of wood. I actually shot and submitted to Apple first as a registered user then joined that same weekend and shot for Silhouette. I had no idea what I was doing. But after those first two challenges I was hooked and have tried to learn and apply everything I could.

And it was all down hill after my first entry...
I should have stopped while I was ahead.

Funny looking back. I didn't even know how to make my shots the right size without going over 150k.

I was quite pleased with my first entry, it was a big mistake though, by the third I had a 5th place and started to think this was easy. HA! It's been downhill ever since :)

Proportions challenge. 4/27/04 (and wow, id numbers only 5 digits back then)
...ummm, yeah :-(
hehehe, I fell afoul of everyone's pet peave newbie mistake- I couldn't get the size right! Lighting...what's lighting? The glaring hot spot is no big deal, right? What's a distracting background? Don't you want lot's of stuff in the shot to look at? You got the basic shot, no need to pay any attention to little details, like part of your backdrop hanging, and not even and stuff. Ahh, what's a little bit out of focus when you got such a great idea, right? :-)
Oh man, who started this thread anyways??? :-P
I learned a lot from that submission alone! Got great helpful comments and encouragement. I like to think I've come a long way from then. :-)
Although, I am proud to say I still have the frequent total stinker, just to keep me firmly planted on the ground! :-P
