The gimp has a raw plugin, which is what I now use to work with RAW:

The Gimp
Ufraw RAW plugin

Edit to add: the Gimp mac link and scroll halfway down the ufraw page to find the mac link for the plugin.

Time to convert to the PC and Windows.

Resistence is futile. You will be assimilated.

No. That's Adobe and the program is called Adobe Lightroom.
Great program. Used it a bit on the school macs. I just might buy it, if the price isn't too high.

Whether you use Linux, MacOS or Windows the best free solution for all is The Gimp with Ufraw plugin. ^ Links are above ^

There's dcraw if you have OSX or another POSIX operating system.

More info:

As posted in another thread recently. There's a plug-in for The Gimp (mentioned elsewhere in this thread) and also an OSX front-end (which I've not used). It might be more pretty for an OSX user.

If you use a Mac you can buy Aperture from Apple or use the free (for now) beta of Adobe LightRoom :)

==> Aperture - approx. 500 $

==> LightRoom - still in beta mode, so free for now.

==> There is also this free tool from Adobe that let's you convert any proprietary RAW file to a open source format, the DNG (Digital Negative Converter) which is integrated in Photoshop CS2.

Adobe DNG

Hope this helps
