If it meets the competition description of "Compose a picture that is balanced within a square crop." then i cannot see a problem.

This may be the first challenge I bow out of. Not sure yet. It is hard for me to do that, but just yesterday I went on an outing and took over 500 wonderful pics at a gorgeous location. LOL...I have kind of lost my mojo to shoot for another free study again at this time. OHhhh, I probably will muster up that energy eventually this week as I HATE to miss a challenge, but I am a bit sad about another free study. I was so hoping for a specific theme so all my shooting yesterday wasn't lost for another free study and by one day in the time frame. The good news is that with all the shots I did get in yesterday, I was able to enter 6 different challenges around the different sites, as well as put together enough to fill more than a months worth at a couple of sites that have no photo time frame needed to enter. I also should get a few wonderful sale prints out of the excursion, so all was certainly not lost. But gosh...another free study is what this challenge is here, and we have had quite a few of those lately. Still fun, but looking forward to more specific themed challenges.

I like the possible outcome here where people will pay more attention to their picture sizes. I know that most recent challenges haven't had quite so many under-sized images, but I think this challenge will further help raise awareness of making sure at least one side is up to the 640 Pixel mark.

I'll be giving out 1's to any image that's even ONE PIXEL off square :-)

Better be all 4 sides at 640 if one is. ;^)

Seriously, I hate how this challenge forces a cool, hep cat like me to go "square"... It's almost shameful...

Rose, you're the first person I thought of when I read the challenge description. You know how many people develop a style? Well, I noticed a pattern with your entries lately...5 of the last 10 were cropped 'Square'. ;^)

How about the 'balance' aspect of the challenge description? Formal, occult...? Is the word in there to direct us towards overtly symmetrical designs or is it there to keep us from putting our sole subject in the bottom right corner? Thoughts?

Really? LOL... I hadn't noticed. I can tell you they aren't completely equal. I remember the measurements. I think ET's is off by one number though either way. Not too bad.

Oh well, I will squeeze something in I am sure. A lot of times my last minute entries do well :)
