Lemme start this ne! :-)

I don't get it. Stock company? Someone who sells paper? A logo for a company on the stock market?? Maybe I'm just a bit naive..... ;-)

It means the photographic equivalent of clipart - the kind of photos a company could use in their annual report/newsletter or a magazine could use to illustrate an article without going to the expense of paying a photographer to take something specially.

Shots of people sat at desks, working at computers or on the phone spring to mind, but that's just one area of stock photography.

Google should bring back a few stock photo agencies, and I know a few people here will have some good links.

Stock photogrpahy is basically an 'open' challenge. Stock photography is used anywhere a photograph may be needed...

You can browse without registering these companies's stock pictures:

I think Setz is right it is basically an open challenge, but with just a few limitations. A stock challenge won't have something specifically related to say any one company especially a small local company that may be in your town, or city etc. Pepsi might be ok, but try not to make it too obvious, Ithaca Cola may not work. Think in terms possibly of something you might put as a background on your computer... just as an idea. The photo should appeal to the public, one with private meaning probably won't work. These are just some ideas.

I suppose if I am taking a photo too sell as a stock photo then I wouldn't want to put a border on it right? I mean no one would buy a photo with a border if they are going to use it for an advertisment.

Very true. However you're not actually submitting a shot to a stock agency but to a challenge here, so surely it's whatever works best here that counts?

The choice, as always, is entirely yours!
