You will be missed Peter but I do appreciate the fact that is time for you to move on, at some stage that time will come to all of us.
You candid work has really inspired me with you image the "eccentric" one of my all time favorites on the site.
Good luck with your future. |

I think their DPC account is just closed, but I believe they actually still exist. ...at least I think so. ;-)
...So, since he's gone, is it ok to parody his challenge photos? |

I'm trying to recall if the phrase "not sporting" appears in the TOS ... |

Yeah, sorry to lose good photographers, but can't say as I'll lose any sleep over someone who seems to have no sense of humor and / or can't get over something so trivial and then handles his exit with such histrionics. |

It is the feeling expressed in this paragraph that I find most troubling, not the issue of the borrowed photograph.
We have heard this sentiment, or similar, expressed before. Somehow, I think it deserves more serious consideration by our leaders, and indeed by the entire community, than to just say "don't take things so seriously", or "lighten up", or calling for a group hug.

Although I do agree that this is a matter that got blown way out of proportion, I think this member's leaving is also down to another long-standing problem that I've noticed particularly at DPC which is about a lack of respect for others' opinions.
There is a mob mentality here... I've said it many times that I am not a fan of the way that members here are routinely mocked when something has angered them, or if they are dissatisfied with something. A little respect for other people's viewpoints is what we desperately need here. That is all.

Yeah, and get "all public" over these sort of thing in the forums. It's a little... dramatic? |

I noticed that also. I did not come to the site for a period of about 6 months and came back 2 months ago. It's not like it use to be. I see lots of insults going around and racism. Just look at another tread going on right now bashing France... this is so stupid. |

| Being a VERY new member here @ DPC, in my 3rd entry I am almost @ a 5 this morning after a 3.92 avg in my first one...that is because of the help I have gotten from these forums. I am ecstatic!!! Not even knowing how to set the exposure on my camera to even now STILL not sure how to do a layer, the awsome artists in this site will gradually get me there. For all that said, I am soooo greatful for any feedback I get. But you are all right, some of these threads are absolutely absurd...and there are some here tjhat need to find a chat room elsewhere to carry on these conversations. In advance, thanks to all those who take the time to help me down the highway in a constructive, "non-bashing" way!! |

Did you report post on the offending posts?
Personally, I believe one is either part of the solution or part of the problem...

That is generally correct. We do not wish to get involved in recalculating several dozen challenges every time someone decides to take their ball and go home.

Geez all this crazy stuff about losing photographers here and copying someones work...I miss all the drama and dont get to stir things up none...
Can atleast add this to another dead thread then...
Cause I know this much....
DPC is a fair bunch of members
with awesome fantastic talent
some are here daily,
some come by just to much lately...
For what ever the reason
its not worth quiting
a break and pause to learn and refresh
Then move on and dont let this post
be the goodbye of a fire roast!

| It's sad to see it all come to this after what IMO I saw as harmless fun. I understand where you're coming from but the way you went about it all I thought could of been handled a lot better. It left me feeling sorry for the perpetrator instead of the victim. Still, it's sad to see someone leave over something like this. |
