I'm glad my stuff isn't worth stealing.
Who said anything about threatening hate mail or harassment by the way?

I wonder what would happen if a validation were requested on that picture...
02/10/2006 03:32:39 AM · #32
he'll be on Page 35
02/10/2006 03:35:10 AM · #33
That's one way to get your profile views up.
02/10/2006 03:51:26 AM · #34
is this one from DPC too? I'm sure I've seen it in a challenge before

another?
02/10/2006 03:52:53 AM · #35
PS, my broadband is down so I can't really go searching fot it on DPC if someone want to do the honors.....
02/10/2006 04:24:06 AM · #36
Agreed, this is not on at all. But It seems the guy is only 16. We were all young and foolish once, and luckily our 'mistakes' were not aired across the net for all to see and comment on. We can condem the action not the person and leave it to the SC and DA admin to sort out.

I'm off to the website suggestions forum to suggest a checkbox for "Right-click Protect" or "DPC Watermark" within our profile pictures and for challenge submissions. At least Right click protect on all challenge submissions.

I just signed up to a DeviantArt account in order to post a message in the forums, but thought better of it just at the last moment.
I really feel for you, I think this is despicable behaviour... but I'm not going to call attention to this individual. Attention is clearly what he's after.
This kind of thing really is becoming more prevalent, the brass balls of these thieves really does astound me.

The link works for me and the image is still up.

I'm sad to say he is an Australian...........loser

maybe that's what makes them "deviants." ;) i do hope justice is served though. my own heart sank when i saw your ripped-off photo. i hate it when people take credit for others' work. i betcha that's not even his true profile picture. he's probably some lonely kid starving for attention in his internet-fueled/focused life.

deviantArt is full of art thievery...not just photographs, but drawings as well. It doesn't help that their administration is very lax on things like this sometimes...obviously since it's a literal rip (download and upload the same picture) they'll take it down, but eh. I'm not going to get on a soapbox about it.

I sent in a policy violation report, too...knowing dA it'll be taken down in a couple days. I only wish I could track down the originals for all the other shots he's posted...the only one that seems to be his own is his ID picture, and it's such poor quality that I can hardly believe he took the other ones. If he gets called on enough stolen pictures he'll probably be banned..

That is so dirty... I wish I had a picture of him so I could eneter it into 7 sins.... No Pride to take all that credit for someone else's work.

He lives near me so, if you just ship me that nice 100mm 2.8 to me maybe i can send you his kneecaps?
02/10/2006 06:24:37 AM · #43
if someone were to be so inclined, and to have the time, (and is a dA member), it might be worth it to also pm all the posters and commenters on that image, letting them know that the image is stolen...

if you're sick and mad at the thought of it being ripped off, read through the comments he's gotten on it, and his replies...
02/10/2006 06:28:30 AM · #44
comments he made...

"yeah, we hoped on it just as it was rising from the hill top, early in the morning i was lucky i could control my awakness"

in response to 'was there any manipulation?'

"no, i only the very front row of trees have been darkened so the contrast with the light sky and the dark ground mix better., Your ncomment means so much to me - thanks heaps"

"haha, yeah it was this special event thingo, and i don;'t blame you - ive had heaps of comments saying it looks like a paointing
but it's not
Dean"

it's out!!!

I'm confused, is the original offender the person who is being still being talked about and linked to (DPC Profile)? I can't tell since the original link is no longer working.

I've had that a few times at DA. Even with people who did claim it was theirs and that I'd stolen it and crap like that.

The DA admins don't actually seem to care much about copyright. They got abusive when I pointed out that my images were being used without my permission.

Interesting. When I read through the comments, someone asked him where it was. He replied that he took it near Adelaide (quite a trip for some kid who lives in the Blue Montains).

The whole Deviantart site seems to be borked right now.

I have been able to reach the main page, but I keep getting this message about the URL reaching its maximum redirects that might have something to do with cookies.
